Tribute to a Legend 🙏
Kancha Sherpa, the last living member of the historic 1953 British Mount Everest Expedition, passed away early Thursday morning at the age of 92.

Born in Namche and inspired by Tenzing Norgay, he joined the first successful Everest expedition at just 19. His dedication and courage became part of mountaineering history.

Nepal Mountain Academy extends heartfelt condolences to his family and the entire community. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of climbers.

• Kristin 🇳🇴 and Tenjen (Lama) 🇳🇵 made their final climb of K2, finishing the 14 8000ers in a record 92 days! This achievement amazed the world, as it seemed impossible. The duo climbed an 8000er in just 7 days on average.

The project of 14th - 8000ers was led by .harila and .tenjen , achieving this historic feat:

However, fate had a sad turn. Lama, who had made over 30 successful climbs of 8000ers, was tragically lost on Shishapangma on 7 October 2023, marking the end of an era. Lama was one of the best guides of the SST family. His humility, kindness, and dedication were key to our expeditions. Farewell, Lama. You are dearly missed! 💔

Celebrating the life of Ang Rita Sherpa 🏔️ Born on this day in 1948 🇳🇵 A legendary Nepali climber who fearlessly climbed Everest 10 times without using supplementary oxygen including a historic winter ascent. He died in 2020, aged 72. His spirit of adventure remains alive in every climber's heart!🙏
