“ Machhindra Football Club Lifts the Third Ilam Gold Cup-2083 Title”
Machhindra Football Club, Kathmandu, won the title of the third edition of the Ilam Gold Cup by defeating defending champions NRT. In the final played in Ilam Yesterday, Machhindra beat NRT 2–0, ending NRT’s hopes of completing a hat-trick of titles.
Both teams fielded national and age-group players. The first half ended goalless as neither side could capitalize on their chances. Machhindra took control in the second half.
In the second minute of the second half, Saurabh S***a scored to give Machhindra the lead. Just three minutes later, Milan Chamling added another goal to double the advantage, securing the title for Machhindra.
With this victory, Machhindra FC received NPR 1,000,000 along with a trophy, medals, and certificates. Runners-up NRT received NPR 500,000.
Pradip Budhathoki of Machhindra was named Man of the Match and received NPR 8,100. Pradip Bhandari (Machhindra) was awarded Best Goalkeeper, Ashish Gurung (NRT) Best Defender, Yubaraj Dhakal (Machhindra) Best Midfielder, Milan Chamling (Machhindra) Top Scorer, and Pravesh Katuwal (Machhindra) Best Coach. Each received NPR 15,000 and a trophy.
Vivek Sunar of Red Horse FC was named Emerging Player, earning NPR 25,000 and a trophy. Sanish Shrestha of Machhindra was declared the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, receiving NPR 51,000 and a trophy.
The third edition of the Ilam Gold Cup, organized by Red Horse Football Club, began on Baisakh 5 and featured eight teams.
