KMC Ward Chairman Cup Chess Title Won by Ksh*tiz Bhandari
KATHMANDU, June 5 (Jeth 23) β€” Fide Master (FM) Ksh*tiz Bhandari has clinched the title of the nationwide 1st Ward Chairman Cup Open FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament, organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Ward No. 10. Bhandari, the highest-rated player in the tournament with a 2200 rating, finished undefeated with 8.5 points out of 9 rounds, securing 8 wins and 1 draw.

The chief guest, Bagmati Province Assembly Member Honorable Dipendra Shrestha, along with KMC Ward No. 10 Chairman Ramkumar KC, presented the title winner FM Ksh*tiz Bhandari with a cash prize of Rs. 35,000, a trophy, and a gold medal.

Top Finishers and Prize Breakdown
Three players tied with 7.5 points each, but Candidate Master (CM) Shushrut Dahal secured the second position based on tiebreak points. The 2119-rated youth player Shushrut received Rs. 30,000, a trophy, and a silver medal.

Similarly, Dhiren Rai (rated 2046) finished third, walking away with Rs. 24,000, a trophy, and a bronze medal. Sabinchandra Ghimire, who also scored 7.5 points, finished fourth and received a cash prize of Rs. 14,000.

Other notable rankings include:
5th to 10th Place: Ashish Phuyal, CM Navin Tandukar, Kamal Shrestha, Suroj Maharjan, and Ganeshman Duwal each won Rs. 10,000.
11th to 15th Place: Players each received Rs. 7,500.
16th to 20th Place: Players each received Rs. 5,500.

In the women's category, Riya Shrestha secured the top spot, earning a cash prize of Rs. 12,000. Prizes were also distributed across various other categories, including age groups, rating groups, unrated players, and the best local players.
