Everest Base Camp every year on May 29 since 2004 to commemorate the historical ascent of Mount Everest by Late Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953. The 1st Test Race was organized in 2003, on May 19th a celebration Event of the 50th Mount Everest Golden Jubilee Anniversary. The trail crisscrosses the Sherpa heartlands of Khumbu Valley between the Everest Base Camp and Namche Bazaar. Everest Marathon, the world's Highest and Toughest Marathon and the Ultimate Mountain Race, is open for all High Altitude Running enthusiasts above 18 years with sound minds and bodies. The Marathon has been marvelously participated by a huge number of participants comprised of Nepalese and Western runners making it truly a Global Community Affair. Ambassadors of Germany, New Zealand, Israel, Malaysia, India, Britain, France, and Thailand have presided as Chief Guests as a sign of support for this wonderful Marathon Race and to boost the morale of local and international Runners. Everest Marathon is considered by High Altitude Mountain Runners as the world's ultimate race or the ultimate challenge of this form of Extreme Sport. Runners endure harsh weather and digest altitude sickness to experience the enthrallment of participation.
