Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association Pioneer in organizing and developing wheelchair sports in Nepal and in involving Person with Disabilities

Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association (NSCISA) is a non profit organization founded in 2009 by a group of young and energetic people with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). NSCISA is the pioneer organization to organize “wheelchair basketball”, “Wheelchair Table tennis” and “swimming for the people with SCI” in Nepal and to involve PWDs (people with disability) in active sports. of NSCISA are wheelchair users and they have found sports as an effective means to discover happiness and hope after sustaining SCI and wish the same for all the PWDs

8 August 2026: Started a 3 -day long Training Coaches in Inclusive Coaching under the project "Mainstreaming Inclusive Sports in Nepal" funded by the European Union in Nepal and led by Cricket Association of Blind Nepal at Kathmandu.This initiative aims to stregthen knowledge, skills and practical capacity of coaches in inclusive coaching of wheelchair basketball creating accessible and safe sporting environments for the coaches of seven different province of Nepal so that they can deliver basic sports training for youth with disabilities in basketball.

11 July 2026 : Successfully completed the Testing of the Wheelchair Basketball Inclusive Coaching Guidelines draft under the project " Mainstreaming Inclusive Sports in Nepal" funded by the European Union in Nepal and led by Cricket Association of the Blind Nepal in the presence of coaches, players, and representatives from disability sports organizations. The consultant collected valuable feedback and recommendations on the draft guideline from participants, which will be incorporated into the final version of the guideline.

Successfully completed the program “Community-Based Youth Inclusive Sports Club Formation” at Sundarharaicha Municipality–4, Morang, on 20-21 June 2026 under the project Mainstreaming Inclusive Sports in Nepal, funded by the European Union in Nepal and led by the Cricket Association of the Blind Nepal. The program was held at the Ward No. 4 Office Hall with the active presence of Ward Chairperson Kailash Basnet, civil society representatives, social workers, representatives of disability organizations, and youths with and without disabilities.
On the first day, a Community-Based Youth Inclusive Sports Club was formed to promote inclusive sports at the local level. On the second day, an orientation on club management and future planning was conducted for the newly formed members. The program aimed to strengthen participation, leadership, and equal opportunities in sports for all, and the newly formed club will work towards the promotion and development of inclusive sports within the community.
