Swapnil and Soham Share Overall Lead; Amelie and Avanie Tied in Girls’ Section
Swapnil Bhattarai and Soham Agrawal shared the overall lead after the second round of the Faldo Junior Tour Nepal Championship at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Thursday.
Both Swapnil and Soham posted identical 36-hole totals of 6-over-par 142, placing them at the top of the leaderboard. Prakrit Tamang sits in third place with a total score of 9-over 145.
Boys’ 17–21 Years Category
In the boys’ 17–21 age category, Swapnil Bhattarai opened up a three-stroke lead over Prakrit Tamang. Swapnil carded his second consecutive 3-over 71 to reach 6-over 142 after two rounds. Prakrit also shot 3-over 71 in the second round for a total of 9-over 145.
Satya Jot Rana and Siddhant Sapkota are tied for third at 155, after both players returned scores of 8-over 76 in round two.
Swapnil went out in 2-over 36 on the front nine, making birdies on the fourth and seventh holes, offset by bogeys on the second, third, fifth, and ninth. On the back nine, he fired 1-over 35, carding birdies on the 10th, 14th, and 18th holes, but suffered a triple bogey on the 13th and a bogey on the 11th.
Ashray Basnyat, Vivash Dhoj Khand, Srijan Nagarkoti, Nirjal Shrestha, Sushant Kandel, Sharyan Basnyat, and Ram Bhandari also made the cut in this category.
Boys’ 12–16 Years Category
In the boys’ 12–16 age category, Soham Agrawal moved into the lead with a total score of 6-over 142. He produced an impressive even-par 68 in the second round to open up a nine-stroke lead over overnight leader Reuben Thapa. Reuben struggled to a 10-over 78, slipping to 15-over 151 overall. Daniel Baniya is third at 165 after shooting 20-over 88.
Soham carded 1-over 35 on the front nine, highlighted by a birdie on the first hole and an eagle on the fourth, against bogeys on the sixth and seventh and a double bogey on the eighth. He followed it up with 1-under 33 on the back nine, making birdies on the 10th and 14th holes before dropping a shot on the 15th.
Dipson Lama, Wangyal Gyatso, Aaroha Neupane, Lucky Shiva, Ishan Shrestha, Aaradhya Tandan, Birshan Rai, and Ayush Besfor also advanced to the final round.
Girls’ Section
In the girls’ section, Amelie Lo Giudice and Avanie Rai shared the lead with identical totals of 31-over 167. Amelie shot 19-over 87 in the second round, while Avanie carded 22-over 90. Yashwi Shrestha is in third place at 180 after returning a 21-over 93.
Anvadya Malla withdrew midway through the second round due to injury.
A total of 25 golfers—11 each in the boys’ 17–21 and boys’ 12–16 categories, along with three in the girls’ section—made the cut for the final round. Following the completion of 54 holes on Friday, the winners of all three categories will earn tickets to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, scheduled to be held in Vietnam in March.1.7sFast30 sources
