सती प्रथा...
पतिको मृत्युपछि उसकी विधवालाई भाङ र धतुरो खुवाएर नशामा लट्ठ बनाइन्थ्यो। त्यसपछि उनलाई चितामा बसालेर काँचो बाँसले थिचेर राखिन्थ्यो, ताकि जलिरहेकी महिलाले चिताको पिडा सहन नसकेर बाहिर नभागोस् ।
चितामा धेरै चिनी र घिउ हालेर यति धेरै धुवाँ गरिन्थ्यो कि त्यो दृश्य देखेर कोही नडराओस्। अनि ढोल, करताल र शंख बजाइन्थ्यो ताकि कोही उनको चिच्याहट, रुवाइ वा विन्ती सुन्‍न नपाओस्। यही थियो 'सहमरण' अर्थात सती प्रथा । चन्द्र शम्शेर बाट १९७७ असार २५ गतेका दिनदेखि यो प्रथाको अन्त्य गरिएको थियो ।
