Goxsheim will be put out for sale, but we will try to sell her as a business. Hopefully the new owner will continue to run the Northern Lights and Whale watching trips. Because of this we will advertise dates for the next season - with provisional bookings only and no deposit payments. If the Gox is not sold by April 30th, all provisional bookings will be cancelled. If sold, provisinal bookings will be handed over to the new owner. We will also take provisional bookings for Ski and Sail 2026.

Norther Lights and Whale watching dates 2025 are:

* 25-29 October - 8 places available
* 30 October - 3 November: 8 places available
* 4-8 November: 6 places available

2 days ago we ended our last Northern Lights and whale watching trip this season. For me it was also the last Whale watching trip ever. Getting old and retired. But we had a brilliant last trip with the merriest group ever. It is not very often laughter is heard so loud throughout the whole boat. They even made a song to our brilliant macerator toilet! Today, two days after the last trip and on our way to Hammerfest, we had a really rare whale experience. We came upon 10-15 humpbacks in 3-4 groups, and it seemd as if they were sleeping. They just floated in the water, at a distance looking like logs floating in the water. So we just switched off engine and noicemakers on baord and floated around with them for some 30 minutes. Facinating!

As far as the weather is concerned, the season so far has not been the best..... But 2 days ago - perfect conditions: Blue sky and no wind. We had spotted a spout from a humpback, aimed for it, stopped and swiched the motor and everything noisy off, just drifting to see where the whale surfaced again. And suddenly - not only one popped up, but 10-12, like corks around the boat! Some of them with a severe cold. After one hour the dorsal fin of an orca showed up, and we decided to try to follow this one. In not too long more and more dorsal fins were seen, and it all ended up with a bigger pod feeding. Nice! And this time - no wolf packs (rib-boats and snorkelers) around! The best day so far this season.

It IS quite a while since we have had any movements in our FB-site. But now - our first group for whale watching this season. The weather has not been too kind to us, and the conditions not he best, but we have had some sightings, both humpbacks and orcas. Nevertheless Deborah and Pat (they sailed with us 19 years ago on our orca safaris in Vestfjorden!) with friends do not complaint, and since they ALWAYS eat their meat, they absolutely can have their PUDDING! Made and served by our brilliant chef Nils.

Today was our last whale-watching day this season. And it ended up pretty good, actually. Not the heavy and spectacular stuff, but we kept a pod of orcas and a few humpbacks company for some 3 hours. Nice. Northern Lights this season? Well - we have have had a few pretty good forecasts, but either it has been cloudy or they did not show up. Despite the exceptional forecast. So I do not know. The photos this time is from this trip - and a few from the trip before. Cosy under deck when the log-burner is fired up.

Another splendid day at sea. Sailed from our anchorage at 08.30, and after some 45 minutes we saw the first dorsal fins. More or less on our own with the pod that had started their breakfast or dinner preparations - driving the herring towards the surface. As on our last trip, it ended in a feeding frenzy, this time with plenty of spy-hopping - singles, doubles, triples and even four at the same time. After 1 hour or more we were surrounded by 16 other safari boats. All of them got their share of the party - but the hump-backs never showed up.

A very good day today. Orcas and humpbacks more or less immediately after we had left our anchorage. Most of these were busy with harassing a herring trawler and eating from it's catch. But there was one group we were able to follow for a while, and in this group there was a male with a damaged dorsal fin. By the way - there was also one with a curly dorsal fin observed amongst the group harassing the trawler. Tomorrow - no whale watching because of the rather nasty weather that is forecasted. So we have tied up properly in Sørkjosen - hoping for the best......

I have no idea how to publish a video in the same "post" (?) as the one with the picks from yesterday's feeding frenzy, but maybe this will do?

Yesterday, the last day for our 3rd group, was not meant to be for whale watching. The night had been very windy, and the day was windy and snowy with bad visibility. Not very tempting to leave the quiet port! But we did. After some 90 minutes someone spotted the dorsal fin of an orca. A bit later more fins. And then - gone. We stopped and stayed drifting, just to check if they would show up again. And they did - around the Goxsheim! We had ended up in the middle of e feeding frenzy where we even where able to see the green bait-ball rising and ending up as "herring with wings". An amazing sight. Humpbacks? They arrived a little bit later, and they arrived like the sand worms in the sci-fi classic "Dune". We almost got a bit scared......
