‼ Ban on crayfish fishing in lake Tyrifjorden and lake Steinsfjorden.
🦞 To prevent the spread of crayfish plague, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) has established restriction in parts of the Drammen watercourse system, including Lake Tyrifjorden and Lake Steinsfjorden and their tributaries. All crayfish fishing within the crayfish plague restriction zone is prohibited as of July 30, 2026.
❌ No Crayfish Fishing This Year
This means that this year's crayfish fishing season has been cancelled. All crayfish fishing in Lake Tyrifjorden and Lake Steinsfjorden, as well as in rivers and streams covered by the restricted zone, is prohibited.
🔴 The following activities are prohibited:
▪ Catching live crayfish, collecting dead or live crayfish, or keeping crayfish in traps or pots within the protected zone.
▪ Moving live or dead freshwater crayfish within the protected zone.
▪ Introducing live crayfish or other aquatic organisms into the protected zone.
▪ Removing live or dead fish and other aquatic organisms that may carry the infectious agent from the protected zone. This prohibition does not apply to aquatic organisms other than freshwater crayfish that are intended directly for consumption.
▪ Removing untreated waste or unprocessed products from fish and other aquatic organisms from the protected zone.
▪ Transporting untreated water out of the area or upstream within the protected zone.
