I used to think liberty was difficult and required me to control my horse at liberty with very small signals, which required some major riding skills I wasn’t possessing 🤠

Another option was to use treats to get my horse to do what I wanted…. But what do you do when you run out of carrots?

I discovered a better and simpler way!

Which is to connect with your horse by taking the guard (become the treat when training your horse) and make your idea your horse’s idea by giving choices💡

This has enabled Ride Like a Viking Members and myself to solve problems in a lasting way and easily train horses at liberty

All horses know what feel is, because they can feel a fly land on their butt 🪰

But not all riders know how to utilise it, which makes horses strong in the bit and even dangerous to ride 🤕

Feel is simply giving a signal by picking up the rein without pulling. If a horse responds to this it means he or she is soft in the reins and safer to ride….

Than a horse who needs to be pulled on for it to be a signal 🐴

I like to check in on the feel before riding off and it’s a true life saver 👉

It makes me confident the horse understands the rein aid and the horse feels comfortable because I’ve shown that I’m not going to pull on their head 🤠
