This week has carried many emotions❤️

I am grateful that our family in Nepal is safe. At the same time, our hearts and thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating natural disaster—with those who have lost loved ones or their homes, the families of those still missing, and the rescue teams working tirelessly on the ground.

In the midst of it all, the boys (Lamas two sons) have arrived Norway to join the cinema tour🥹

We have celebrated my dad’s 70th birthday, shared the premiere of our film in Vadsø, and felt the warmth of being surrounded by family, friends, and community🙏🏻

Here in Norway, we are also mourning the loss of King Harald V—a warm and unifying presence who meant so much to so many🕊️
We have also had to say goodbye to a dear friend—a loss that reminds us just how precious and fragile life is…

More than anything, it has reminded me to hold our loved ones close, never take a single moment for granted, and remain grateful—even in the most difficult of times❤️

What a fun weekend in Haugesund❤️ Being part of the Norwegian Film Festival, presenting a prize, and now finally sharing the film with the industry.

It’s a really special feeling after so much time and work behind it 🙏🏔️

As long as the mountains are there, people will climb them🏔️
Our responsibility is to make them safer for everyone who climbs, works and lives in the mountains.

We cannot remove all the risks from the mountains. But we can learn, prepare, and share knowledge that can save lives.

The Lama Sherpa Foundation will arrange avalanche safety courses for people working in the mountains in Nepal.

Similar courses will also be arranged in Pakistan. We are coming back with more information.

The course will combine:
• A theoretical part focused on avalanche awareness, risk assessment and decision-making
• A practical part where participants can put their knowledge into practice in the mountains

This is about giving the people who spend their lives in the mountains tools to understand the risks and to make safe decisions🏔️

The tragedy on Broad Peak has left so many of us heartbroken.

Since we got the news about the avalanche it’s been difficult to process. It feels unreal.

Even though our community stretches across the world, it is incredibly small. We share the same mountains, the same dreams, and the same friendships. When something like this happens, it touches all of us in one way or another.

We lost four amazing climbers, five of our great Sherpas and Nims…

We lost friends and people we love.

My heart goes out to all the families, friends, teammates, and everyone who has lost someone they love❤️

People often ask about the difference between a cold mask and an oxygen mask. They have two completely different purposes.

An oxygen mask/tank adds oxygen to help your body perform in the thin air at extreme altitude🏔️

The low air pressure means every breath delivers fewer oxygen molecules to your lungs, making it harder for your body to get the oxygen it needs. Your heart rate increases, your breathing becomes faster, and even simple movements require much more effort😮‍💨

Supplemental oxygen helps by increasing the amount of oxygen available with each breath, allowing your body to perform more efficiently in the thin air.

A cold mask doesn’t add oxygen at all. Instead, it warms the air before you breathe it in. It reduces irritation and protects your lungs and airways in freezing conditions❄️

When you’re climbing in extreme cold, protecting your breathing can make a real difference, even when you’re not relying on supplemental oxygen❤️

If you want to know how it’s done, follow along🏔️☺️

I recommend everyone use a Sherpa or a guide when climbing higher mountains. They are extremely skilled and make it possible to summit safely.

It’s a misunderstanding that climbing with a Sherpa is a bad thing.

Climbing with a Sherpa doesn’t make the climb easy, it makes it safer. I still carry all the weight and take every step by myself🏔️❤️
