A pretty special moment from our latest trip to Tauterryggen. 🦈💙

On the way up from the cold-water coral reef, the divers were joined by a large school of spiny dogfish during their decompression stop. Moments like this are a great reminder of just how much life is hiding beneath the surface here in Trøndelag.

Tauterryggen continues to surprise us — spectacular reefs, deep-water marine life and encounters you simply can’t plan for.

In week 28 and 29, we had the pleasure of welcoming British marine biologist and underwater photographer Hector Clarke to Bare Dykk.

During his stay, Hector joined us beneath the surface to explore some of the remarkable marine life found in the deeper waters of the Trondheimsfjord. The result is a beautiful series of images featuring species such as the rabbitfish, basket stars and colourful cold-water corals.

His photographs capture both the extraordinary details and the almost otherworldly atmosphere of life in the deep. It is always fascinating to see our local dive sites through the eyes of a visiting marine biologist and photographer.

Vi samler nå hele Bare Dykk-universet i én tydelig logo-familie 🤿

Nettbutikken, Skarnsundet Dykkesenter, Safe Dive og et mørkere prosjekt som fortsatt får ligge litt i skyggene … 👀

Ulike konsepter, men med samme identitet, uttrykk og lidenskap for opplevelser under vann. Dette er bare starten, flere medlemmer av familien kommer etter hvert.

Å komme trygt opp igjen — er alt for oss

Vi har bygget vårt eget digitale sikkerhetssystem for dykkesenteret — [navn]. Sertifikater, kurs, nødkontakter, gassoppsett, dagsjournaler og elektronisk signering. Alt samlet på ett sted. På statusskjermen på senteret ser hele teamet hvem som er i vannet i sanntid.

Og skulle det verste skje: én knapp aktiverer nødmodus — alle på senteret varsles, 113 ringes automatisk og koordinatene sendes direkte.

Mindre papirarbeid. Full sporbarhet. Rask respons når det virkelig gjelder.

🌊 Meet “Queen Catrine”

During the dive, the team came across a beautiful, large red sea tree (Paragorgia arborea) with several basket stars resting among its branches.

We have now documented many sea trees in the area, but it is always a great experience to see such a large and healthy specimen. This one was given the name “Queen Catrine.”

The diver behind the film explains:

“We found a beautiful, large bubblegum coral covered in basket stars. The name comes from a song I wrote to celebrate Matt’s 30 years as a diver. We thought ‘Queen Catrine’ was a fitting name, and we hope she can inspire the next generation of female technical divers.”

What an exciting days in Skarnsundet! 🤿

We have had the pleasure of hosting a group of technical divers who stayed with us while exploring the fjord at depths ranging from approximately 40 to 100 metres.

During their deepest dives, they visited areas we had previously only seen through ROV footage and images. There, they encountered forests of bubblegum coral, Lophelia reefs, gorgonian corals, sponges, sea bushes and ghost sharks.

Some of these depths are beyond the range in which we currently dive ourselves, making it especially exciting to be part of the support team behind such ambitious expedition dives. By providing accommodation, facilities, local knowledge and logistical support, we also gain valuable new insight into what lies in the deep waters just outside our doorstep.
