On the third day of the Fjällräven Polar Expedition the world we left behind already feels distant.

Out here life feels different. Nature is overwhelming. It’s about remembering. Working together. Moving as one team through a landscape that demands presence and respect.

My small husky pack comes alive here. This is their element. You can hear it in their howls echoing across the ice - wild and free they sing together! It’s where they feel home and for some time, so do we!

P.s. Sleeping in the sled became surprisingly practical! 🤍

The energy, the excitement, the dogs ready to run — such a special moment to be part of. Roy Åge Jensen Ugseth tried to clap as many hands as possible along the way and share that start-line feeling of Finnmarksløpet with as many as possible 💙

Thanks to everyone who joined and cheered with us! See you next time 🕰️🐕

Recap : Finnmarksløpet 600

After a very long rest, I left Checkpoint Jergul in the first sunlight with only five dogs. At that point, being last in the field didn’t matter — what mattered was making sure the small dog team was strong enough to continue with the race.

Mandel had worried me earlier. After several veterinary checks and even running alongside her to see if she was limping, she seemed fine when we left the checkpoint. After resting the night Bowie was a bit stiff at the start, but loosened up after the first kilometres. ☀️ 🐕

Further down the river, Mandel began limping again and had to ride in the sled. She was pushing through the zipper, because she was so eager to run, but I managed to keep her in the sled. I decided to rest with the dogs right before Karasjok to see and give them a good experience and if they were regenerating, I would give it a try to Levajok.

After two hours rest on the river in the sun and on hay I decided to go ahead. To my big joy Mandel was running smooth, she looked good again and was ready to go — but now Bowie showed clear stiffness and struggled to stretch his hind legs properly.

After discussing the situation together, the decision became clear. I decided that this was it. We scratch.

Sometimes the hardest part of this race is knowing when to stop. The dogs always come first!

Still so incredibly proud of this dog team and grateful for the journey we had on the trail. 🩵
