Fishing trips aren’t always just about fish. 🦀

When the opportunity is there, guests can sometimes join me in pulling a crab pot — and for younger adventurers, seeing what comes up from the bottom can be just as exciting as feeling a fish on the line.

A beautiful cod, calm water and some evening sun on the fjord outside Stavanger. You never quite know what will take the bait — and that anticipation is a big part of what makes fishing here so much fun.

Sometimes the best moments on a hike are the ones you never planned. 🌿

While walking through the forest near Stavanger, we came across this little slow worm — stålorm in Norwegian. Despite its snake-like appearance, it’s actually a legless lizard and completely harmless. Of course, we had to stop for a closer look before letting it continue on its way.

Private hiking is also about having time for these small discoveries along the trail — not simply getting from A to B.

That smile says pretty much everything. 🎣

A beautiful ballan wrasse, a proper fight on the rod and one very proud young fisherman. You never quite know what will take the bait around Stavanger — and that variety is a big part of the fun.

For me, fishing trips are about much more than the size of the catch. It’s the excitement, the surroundings and moments like this that people remember.

One of the small things that often surprises my guests in Norway — stopping during a hike and filling your bottle straight from a mountain stream. 💧

For the kids, it quickly became part of the adventure: cold, clear Norwegian mountain water, straight from the source. And according to them, it tastes much better than anything from a bottle. 😊

Sometimes it’s not about catching the biggest fish — it’s about discovering what just came up from beneath the boat.

This beautiful wrasse definitely deserved a closer look. One of the things I enjoy most when taking families fishing around Stavanger is seeing the curiosity when a new species comes onboard. You never quite know what the next drop will bring.

Reaching Pulpit Rock together — and what a place for a family photo.

After the hike up, standing 604 metres above Lysefjord is a moment worth remembering. For me, private hiking is about more than reaching the famous viewpoint. It’s about taking the day at your own pace, enjoying the landscape and sharing the experience together.

A fishing trip is about much more than the time spent with a rod in your hands.

A quiet island, a break from fishing, homemade Norwegian waffles with jam, and good company in the sunshine — sometimes these little stops become just as memorable as the catches themselves.
