Building strong athletes, coaches, squads and prepare them for championships is my passion in sport. Strategies, planning and following up, is part of the work and what I am prepared to do. I came from a island in the west coast of Norway. After 17 years I travelled to Denmark to learn more about sport and my Olympic experience started. Today I have many years of experience from high performance s
port as an Olympic athlete, Paralympic leader and Olympic coach. High performance athlete, technical trainer, head- and performance coach. All with a considerable responsibility, decision-making duties, and co-creations. High performance coaching and training in Norway, Scotland, Denmark, Finland and India the last 8+ years has been a journey I thought should be only a dream, but I made it happen. Before my Scotland years, I started on a humanistic coach education program. It was a great development for me to integrate coaching into my work. Life changed, sport became more, coaching became different, the work and co-creation with the athletes not like before. Work was still challenging, but the struggle changed. Every day I try to remember how it all started. How it was to be a young athlete or coach. I promised myself once to be the coach and the coach trainer I needed myself. I promised myself to put the athletes first and work tirelessly to develop the culture of training. Always remember the necessity of high motivation. Building culture, adapt goals, developing the feeling of mastering and the sense of being part of something meaningful! SPORTSCOACHING.
Please tell me more about your work! The question came both from the guy in the office next to mine and from a new client. Tell us more about sports coaching and how do you work?
I work with sportscoaching and mindtraining giving athletes and coaches a better life in sport”. The hashtags have been with me for a long time now. They have become important keywords. Backboneandheart. There is a need to develop independency, toughness, calmness, and self-confidence among athletes and coaches. It means I work to develop strong backbones and hearts, but I also work with my own backbone and heart. Being able to handle the performance field. Mind training is a necessary part in this process. In fact, it is an everyday part. Takegoodcareofthecoach. I realized as a coach myself, that the support staff was trained to take care of the athletes, not the coach. We also know that the performance on the field of play get better when the coach is at her best. Luckily there is a growing awareness about the need for supervision for persons in the coach role, but still more common coaching a leader or a boss. Takingthepathlesstraveled. I am and my clients are, taking-the-path-less-traveled. High performance work in sport has developed a lot the last 10 years, but it is still a job for the few. A lonely job where also the coach should be prepared to perform on her own at a certain match or at a certain day. “Sometimes you win and sometimes you learn” in sport. It is tough and it is a privilege.
