Run Together Get Together - A Retrospective
📸
After an incredible weekend in the Swiss Mountains it’s time to reflect on the journey and I couldn’t think of a better way than with this picture of the Nordics team (special mentions to and who couldn’t join us for the picture due to being pregnant 😁)
At the start of the weekend we were asked to narrow down our core life values to 2 key principles.
*Balance - as our lives get busier (work commitments, family, personal obligations, social influences, etc) this value was very common amongst the group. For me personally the power of movement allows me to self reflect and also engage with others. This is key to helping to restore balance in such a busy life.
* Humour - this principle encompasses so many other things for me. It’s what builds memorable family moments with my wife and kids and is a key component of social engagements with friends. The ability to laugh, even during difficult times for me is key (it is important to note that this is a personal feeling and not advice). One story I shared with the Nordics team which encompasses this was when my Mum passed away a couple of years ago myself, my wife, my brother and his partner and my Dad all met together at a pub to catch up before the funeral - as we don’t see each other too often. As this was the first time we had lost someone so close to us I wasn’t sure how we would all react but it was like time hadn’t passed and we just shared stories and laughed together, which was something we had always shared. 30 minutes later we were crying at the crematorium (a great name for an Emo band by the way), which circles back to this concept of balance.
For me, it’s not just about work/life balance but emotional balance and how I can try to learn to cope with some of life’s biggest hurdles.
So to wrap it up - a big thanks to for giving me the opportunity to truly embrace these values and share and start to build new relationships with some amazing people in beautiful surroundings.
