Dear fellower, I'm sorry that I've to inform you, that Hendrik had been scrachted from the race in Ellentjern.
Due to diarry to many dogs in his team gets to thin. So Hendrik decided to stop for the wellfare of the dogs.

Mimik was the first dog who has been dropped from the team in Levajok.
She got a very serious pneumonia and unfortunately she was not far away to die.
Fortunately the vets found that out very fast and so Mimik was intensiv treated by a team of vets and her two handler.

On the first foto you can see her at the animalhospital in Kirkenes. That means an extra trip for me with the car of 8 hours to Kirkenes and back. All during the 16h mandetory break of Hendirk in Tana Bru. Normaly one of the less chances for handler to get some sleep.

The second foto shows Mimik lying on the back. The x-ray confirmed the serios pneumonia.

Foto #3: Mimik need iv-Infusions to give her liquide and energy back. During the worstes constitution Tina was sitting next to her for hours of hours to ensure the infusion is dripping.
Later on we constructed an infusions-holder.
But how to keep an infusion liquide by -7°C?
- go to the next fuelstation and ask them to heat up the infusion
- put a headlamp between a sock and the infusion and cover everything with legwarmer
- switch the headlamp on and the heat of the LED-Lamps will keep the infusion warm for round about 2 hours.

So far, no sleep for Tina and me, but Mimik is getting better and better.

Hendrik is in Ellentjern at 19:20. His plan is to skip the break because he had a 4h rest on the trail.

Hendrik is in Kirkenes at 22:22. 30 Minutes faster than expected.
He went out in the early morning at 4:31.
The next checkpoint is new and located between the Russian, Finnish and Norwegian boarder. Due to Ellentjern is a wilderness checkpoint, the handler-team procedures direct to Neiden 2. We expect Hendrik in the very early Thursday at 2:31.

Hendrik is out in "Neiden 1" at 14:21. 11 dogs are with him.
We expect him at the most eastern Checkpoint in Kirkenes at 22:51. Temperatures ar going down, this is especially good for Malamutes and Greenlanddogs.
