Statement from Underwater Narvik
Following today’s diving accident, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all emergency services involved in the rescue operation.
The safety of our divers is always our highest priority. As soon as it became clear that one of the divers required assistance, our emergency procedures were activated immediately. Our skipper, who is trained in first aid, administered oxygen to the diver on board and contacted the emergency services without delay.
We would especially like to highlight the excellent cooperation and communication between our skipper, the police, ambulance service and helicopter crew. Their rapid response and professional coordination allowed the diver to receive medical assistance quickly before being transported by helicopter to Tromsø for further care.
We are aware that some information currently circulating about the incident is inaccurate. Out of respect for the diver and everyone involved, we will not speculate about the circumstances of the accident.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in today’s rescue operation. In a situation where every minute matters, we are extremely grateful for your professionalism, rapid response and support.
Our thoughts are with the diver and his loved ones, and we sincerely hope for the best possible outcome.
