🐾 We are hiring guides & dog handlers for the Autumn & Winter season 2026–2027

Into Nature is a small dog sledding company and long distance racing kennel located in the Tromsø region.

🐕‍🦺 We run small-group tours and focus on authentic Arctic experiences and very high standards of animal welfare.
We also participate in long distance races such as Finnmarksløpet 1200km. Our dogs are trained athletes and dog welfare and training are a big part of our daily work.
The handlers will also be involved in training, conditioning and kennel routines related to racing dogs.
We will have around 40 dogs and puppies in the kennel.

❄️ It is physical work, long days, and sometimes tough weather: cold, wind, rain, snow and darkness.
You will be tired, wet, dirty and sometimes frozen. But you will also work with amazing dogs, see northern lights, beautiful mountains and be part of a small passionate team.
⚠️ This job is amazing for the right person, but very difficult for the wrong one.

📋 The job includes:
Daily dog care (feeding, cleaning, health checks)
Harnessing and unharnessing dogs
Paws check / Put – remove a lot of booties
Preparing sleds and equipment
Guiding dog sledding tours
Helping with guests and campfire activities
Kennel cleaning and maintenance
Helping with training dogs and race preparation
Stretching and massaging the dogs
General base work

👤 We are looking for people who:
Love dogs and animals
Are not afraid of hard physical work
Can work in cold, wet and windy conditions
Are reliable and responsible
Can work in a small team and live in a remote place
Are independent (shopping, daily life, transport etc.)
Have a driving licence (own car and trailer license is a big plus)
Experience with dogs, outdoor work or tourism is a plus

🐾 SUMMER HANDLER WANTED – Northern Norway 🏔️

We’re looking for someone to help with daily care of our 35 Alaskan Huskies during the summer months.
Tasks include feeding, watering, cleaning, and keeping an eye on the dogs’ health and mood.
No training or tours in summer — just calm daily routines and lots of dog time 🐶
You’ll live in a remote, beautiful area with access to nature, peace, and fresh air. Great for someone who loves animals and simple living 🌲

Winter is at our Door ☃️

❄️ As the cold season approaches, we want to thank everyone for your continued interest and enthusiasm regarding our activities. Your support and requests have meant the world to us and is the reason why we can have this lifestyle.☺️

This winter, we are excited to announce that we’ll be back, for long-distance competitions.
We have an exciting pool of very nice dogs who show all the qualities we are looking for.
Our main focus this season will be on these young, promising dogs, giving them as much race experience as possible.

The highlight of our season will be the Gold Rush Run - Sled Dog Race, a 500km race in Finland that we’ve never done before. We’re more than excited to head over there and explore the area.

🎇And the cherry on top? The Finnmarksløpet 600km, but this time with two teams in the race.
A huge thank to our friend Jonas who stepped in for the adventure.
With his huge military background and dog experience, our dogs will be in very good hands.

All of this is part of our bigger plan for 2026, preparing our dogs for something even greater...

Into Nature is looking for a handler for the upcoming autumn-winter season of 24/25.

Into Nature is a dogsledding kennel located in the countryside of Tromsø on the Peninsula of Malangen, approximately a 1 hour 15 minutes drive from the city.
We are a small racing kennel with 25 lovely Alaskan Huskies (plus upcoming puppies this summer) and we offer various tourism activities, including dog sledding and other outdoor adventures.
We are planning to participate in many long-distance races during the upcoming winter, including the Finnmarksløpet 600.
For the right person, we would like to offer the opportunity to participate in 1-2 long distance races during the season and to be a handler for the Finnmarksløpet.
We place a significant emphasis on the well-being of our dogs, with daily free running and care such as massages, stretching, laser and ultrasound therapy and providing high-quality nutrition.

We are seeking someone who has a strong interest in race training, dog care, and an outdoor lifestyle but also:

-High physical and mental capacity.
-Demonstrates a strong desire to learn and grow within the role.
-Enjoys and adapts to the challenges of training, including long days and nights.
-Maintains a positive attitude towards both dogs and humans, remaining calm in stressful situations.
-Have good communication skills.
-Can effectively manage cold weather conditions, ensuring the well-being of both themselves and the dogs.
-Maintains passion and determination as the season progresses and challenges intensify (from December to February).
-Capable of handling a sled with 8-12 dog.
-Comfortable working autonomously throughout the season.
-Flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and conditions.
-Problem-solving skills: Can effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during training or while out on the trail.

Accommodation and food will be provided, along with a monthly stipend.
The accommodation consists of a 25-square meter wooden cabin equipped with all necessary amenities (electricity, toilet, and a small kitchen).
If we believe you have the capacity for guiding, additional salary will be provided.
We do require that you possess a driver’s license (B), and having a BE-trailer license is a significant advantage.

We live just a few minutes away from a stunning fjord, several beautiful lakes, and a magnificent waterfall. The spectacular surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for fishing, trekking, skiing, and various other outdoor activities.

This coming weekend will start the Finnmarksløpet 🐾🏆
Which is the longest race in Europe with a 1200 km with 14 dogs class and the 600 km with the 8 dogs class.

This season I decided to not participate to be able to focus on my new company and it was a good choice since this winter have been extremely busy for us, which is a good thing!
It take a lot to build something like I do and I wanted to be able to focus 100% on it.
And I already want to thanks all of our guests for being with us and made our days so great! 🥰

It doesn't mean that I'm done with it, I have unfinished business there and we have some very nice dogs who's gonna be ready to race soon :-)

But of course I couldn't just skip that race at all... It's a nice event! So this season I will be Handler for my friend Jørgen Kristoffer Larsen who's gonna do his first 600 km 👊

I'm looking forward to be on the handler side, the easy side where you just drink coffee and eat cake :-D (I'm joking of course: It's almost as hard as driving it).
As handler I'm gonna take care of the dropped dogs, checkpoint bags, the musher food, updates about weather etc.. etc..
It's being an assistant.

A nice way for me to see the race from an other side and get some days off from running the tours :-D
