What a day of rugby on the South Coast.
Thank you to every team who travelled to Kristiansand for Norgescup 7s Round 2: Blindern, NTNUI, Bergen, Sandefjord, Sagene, Sandnes Øst, Stavanger, BSI and our own Kristiansand squad.
A big thank you also to Norges Rugbyforbund for facilitating the day, and to everyone who helped make the tournament run smoothly.
Congratulations to Blindern, who won the men’s competition after a final against NTNUI, and to Stavanger, who took the women’s title.
A special mention has to go to Sandefjord and their young team, who improved game after game and showed huge promise throughout the day. Also to BSI, who came with minimal numbers but played their hearts out from start to finish. The effort from every club helped make what we believe was a really successful day of rugby.
For Kristiansand, it was a day full of effort, character and proud moments.
Gareth captained the side for the first time and showed his strength throughout, flying into tackles, carrying hard and leading by example.
Odhrán returned after some time away from playing and brought his special flair and skills back to the pitch.
Øystein put in hard tackles and strong runs consistently throughout the day.
Éanna played his very first game for us and flew across the pitch.
Alex played his last game for Kristiansand, though we hope he returns one day. He will always be welcome, and what a skillset he has across every position.
Antonio, skilled in the backs but a prop at heart, gave us continuous running, tackling and playmaking.
Eron pulled on a shirt and ended up playing his first game of rugby. Now he has the bug.
Beat continued to hold the line with solid tackles and excellent coverage.
Chris P had some amazing runs, flying through the pitch while also putting in the work as a prop.
The Butterfields managed their front row, with Chris at prop and Harry at ho**er. Both held their own and continue to show solid skills.
On the women’s side, Bernadette continued her rugby comeback with full games for BSI. What an effort she put in. And as a surprise addition, Mari returned to the pitch with a storming try for Stavanger.
We also had a few injuries across the day, and we wish everyone a quick and full recovery.
Finally, to our club members who helped throughout the day: you are amazing. From the early start, through the full tournament, and right to the end, you showed exactly what makes this club special. You are the heart of Kristiansand Rugbyklubb.
Good rugby. Great company. One club. One South Coast.
