The weather has been amazing these last weeks, crazy amounts of fish, hardly any waves, and many customers that have gotten to experience these wonderful conditions.

As many coalfish as you want to catch, and some respectable sizes too (for Southern Norway), some pollack and quite a few cod thankfully, and some sea trout.

We go into a quiet two weeks now before the very busy period begins and dates are filling up fast now. So if you're thinking of booking, do it before the spaces are gone!

NEW ANGLERPILOT MARKETING FILM

During this last period we have had groups from the Ukraine, Finland, Germany and Norway.

The sea trout fishing has been amazing and some of the best we have experienced for many years. Like this father and son got to experience catching their first ever salmonoids, two sea trout each.

Otherwise we have seen lots of fish on the fish finder but they been slow to bite. With that said we've caught many cod, pollack and coalfish.

We now go towards our busy period and many bookings. So please do not wait too long as August for example is almost fully booked already!

We have a passionate drive for guiding and continual self development, that's why at least once a year we get guided by other professional fishing guides.

Last year it was trout in Milano, Italy and then the year before that grayling in North Wales. This year we took the trip up to Stavanger, Norway and Stavanger Adventure - https://www.stavangeradventure.com/fishing-tours-stavanger

Espen Haaland in his new boat took me out into the fjords around Stavanger, deep sea fishing for sharks, bottom fishing for flatfish, and midwater fishing for pollack. We manage to achieve all goals with some lovely examples.

It was a wet and rainy day but we found shelter on an island where Espen cooked up a fresh lunch with haddock, part of our catch and Norwegian root vegetables. Then washed down with a freshly brewed coffee.

By being inclusive and lifting up others, we want to highly recommend Stavanger Adventures if you find yourself wanting to experience fishing here or hiking the hills around!

These last weeks in Southern Norway the sea trout fishing really has taken off with 10 to 20+ fish per trip.

Sea trout fishing can be tough at times but with the right knowledge to choice of place, lure/fly, how the weather influences the fish, etc can one succeed.

After almost 25 years passionately hunting these fish, 12 years as a professional fishing guide, and lots of good tips and advice from other accomplished sea trout fishers, it's time to share what I have learnt.

Why hire a fishing guide?

It’s a question I hear often — especially from experienced anglers.

The truth is, even the best fishermen benefit from local knowledge. Knowing where fish are holding, how conditions change throughout the day, and which techniques actually work can make all the difference.

Instead of spending hours figuring things out, you can spend your time doing what matters most — fishing, learning, and enjoying the experience.

At AnglerPilot, every trip is tailored to you — whether you're a beginner or highly experienced.

I’ve written a short blog explaining why more anglers are choosing guided experiences:

Well it seems that the ice fishing season is soon ending as the mild days have lead to the ice retracting from the edges and the ice gradually becoming a little unstable in places.

But the last days has seen groups from the Netherlands, England, USA and Germany enjoying the winter sun and ice.

On the fjord groups have caught many fish and one group catching 10 different species of fish!

The next week has only a couple of trips booked but hopefully the fish will be equally as willing on those as the past trips.

I've a new website and at the same time a new blog. So for all you fishing and maybe on-fishing interested souls out there, here is something to learn!

Have you ever heard of Norway’s marbled trout?

In the Otra River, a unique form of brown trout is sometimes called “marble trout,” but their story is more complex and fascinating than most anglers realize.

I wrote a detailed piece about how they differ from the classic marble trout of Southern Europe and what it means for anglers here in Norway.

Curious what others think — does this change how you view trout fishing in Norway?

A journey into the world of one of the most beautiful fish found in Southern Norway. Not only is it aesthetically breathtaking but the environment where it lives equally so.

These last days I have shared multiple trips on the ice. The weather has treated us well and the fish have been obliging too.

Cod, pollack, whiting, poor cod, coalfish, cuckoo wrasse, and ballan wrasse have been caught on the fjord, and perch on the lakes.

I love how for decades Southern Norway has always been viewed as just a summer destination. Though here we are in the middle of winter with people from different parts of the world, showing that it's so much more!

These last days I have had the pleasure of showing the Swiss 🇹🇭 fishing magazine ‘Petri Heil’ what ice fishing in Southern Norway can offer.

They were genuinely delighted with the vast array of species one can catch, especially on a real Norwegian fjord!

Cod, Balkan wrasse, mackerel, cuckoo wrasse, dragonette, plaice, flounder, sole, poor cod, whiting, brown trout, American brook trout, perch and almost a pike. Impressive!
