The grand finale of the Maximus O Meeting was set up perfectly. A chase start. Tight gaps. Everything on the line. 🎯🔥
And it absolutely delivered.
In a dreamlike setting at El Burguillo, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and under a blazing sun for the fourth consecutive day ☀️, the final stage offered demanding yet joyful courses. Bare rocks, massive boulders, steep cliffs, and beautiful open meadows created a playground where every athlete could express their best orienteering.
It was tough. It was fun. It was pure Maximus.
In the women’s elite race, Pia Young Vik showed control and maturity, defending her overall lead and securing the global victory 👑 But behind her, the battle was fierce. Aleksandra Hornik executed a smart move on the final loop to clinch second place, while the young Hungarian talent Janka Mikes completed a very solid championship to take the third step of the podium 🥉
Then came the drama in the men’s race.
Oskar Hägström started the day in the lead, but a mistake at control 10 changed everything. He was caught… and shortly after overtaken by his teammate Lucas Basset, who turned the tables to claim the overall victory in spectacular fashion 🏆💥
The fight for third was intense as well, with the Kalevan Rasti squad battling hard, and it was Santeri Kirjavainen who secured the final podium position.
What a finish. What a championship.
This has been a great Maximus O Meeting. Magnificent terrains. High level competition. And above all, countless smiles in the forest 🌿😊
Thank you all for coming.
See you in 2027.
The Best Choose Maximus. 🔥
