Guys, I’m planning a big, all-inclusive event through AdventureAide and if you’ve never explored the eastern Sierra Nevada before, this is a good intro for you.
Not super intense, involves cooking classes, beer tasting, some hiking, pretty much the most incredible photography experiences in California, and a little mindfulness every day.
Take a look!

Join me for a camping adventure to experience nature’s wonders of the eastern Sierra Nevada. We’ll start with a meetup in the Alabama Hills to stretch our legs and adjust to the altitude change a little bit before we go camp at Big Pine Lakes for 3 nights! Expect cooking classes, beer tasting in nearby Bishop, fall foliage leaf-peeping, some local Paiute legends, and embracing life at 8,000 feet! The coup de grace? Hiking to the Big Pine Lakes!
Day 1
• Meet up at the Alabama Hills and do some exploring
• Head into Big Pine and get to our campgrounds, familiarize ourselves with our surroundings and start getting to know each other
• Have an awesome cooking class and campfire dinner
Day 2
• Do a morning warm-up and gratitude exercise
• Have some bomb locally roasted mountain coffee
• Light breakfast
• A little session on how to adjust to altitude and the effects of high-altitude on food prep and cooking
• Do some local leaf-peeping in Round Valley or Aspendell, and maybe catch the elk migration
• Head into Bishop and hit a brewery (first flight included!) and then go to the famous Schatt’s Bakkerÿ
• Campfire cooking class (tri-tip and roasted veggies)
• Games and nicknames, maybe singing songs
Day 3
• Wake up and warmup and meditation
• Some more of that incredible mountain coffee and a few local Paiute stories
• Breakfast cooking class
• Prep lunch and pack for day hike
• Hike into the Big Pine Lakes, and brave the cold water for a polar plunge (weather depending)
• Warm ourselves by the fire and have dinner, play games, and be musical
Day 4
• Wake up and be grateful!
• Warmup with coffee
• You don’t have to go home, but you do have to leave. I’ll give you some great ideas of activities to do so you can stretch out your trip a little longer and explore our great state.
Packing list:
• Tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad or cot
• Layers, people! Layers!
• Sturdy probably waterproof hiking boots
• A hat of some kind for the sun, and for cold weather
• sunglasses, gloves
• field or pocket knife, or multi-tool.
• any musical instrument of your choice (within reason, no glockenspiels please)
• a sense of humor and adventure
• any extra snacks
PS — it’s real. Just booked the campgrounds on Friday. Start planning your time off. This is happening.
