👋 Meet your 2026 Team Alberta Coaching Team!

📍 Team Alberta is once again heading to Nationals with an exceptional group of coaches ready to support our athletes. We’re proud to have a team with deep experience across Canadian and international powerlifting.

🗓️ Need a coach? There’s time to still time to submit a request. Athlete coaching requests are open until February 21st, giving our team time to coordinate and connect with you ahead of Nationals.

The Alberta Powerlifting Union is now accepting applications to coach at the 2026 CanPL National Championships which will be held in St. John’s, NL from March 9th-14th.

Team Alberta coaching services are offered for APU athletes whose personal coaches are unable to be in St. John’s.

This service is free for APU athletes, and the team coaches receive a stipend set out in our policies.

The positions available are as follows:
▪️Team Coach (Multiple)
▪️Team Manager (1)

SAVE THE DATE: 2025 Annual General Meeting • Online through Zoom at 6:00PM (MST)

Registration is now open to attend the AGM!

You must have an active APU membership at least 24 hours prior to the start time of the event. No exceptions. Link in bio for the registration form 🔗.

We need a minimum of 10 members attend the meeting to have Quorum.

🔔 Important reminders 🔔 :

⚪️This year is the election year for President and Secretary positions. Nominations must be submitted by Sept 12th.

⚪️Agenda will be released on Sept 14th and will include all nominees for executive positions. Information will be made available on the APU website.

⚪️All nominations for 2024 Athlete of the Year and 2024 Volunteer of the Year must be submitted by Sept 12th.

⚪️All proposed Bylaw and Policy amendments must by submitted by Sept 12th.

Want to step onto the national platform?

Whether you just competed at Nationals or are working toward your first appearance, it’s important to know the path to get there. Hitting your qualifying total is just one piece of the puzzle!

Swipe through to learn the steps to Nationals, and make sure you’re on the right track.

We hope this information helps to provide clarification on the CPU and APU requirements and provides a clear pathway for all our members.

In addition to these requirements, all members are required to hold a CPU Elite membership to:
⚪️ Set National Records
⚪️ Compete at Canadian Powerlifting Union
Regionals or Nationals
⚪️ Compete on the National Team at IPF
Competitions

Please check that you have the appropriate membership type. If you are unsure, please check your CPU Membership card or login to your account (esportsdesk) to confirm that you have an Elite membership prior to registering for Nationals.

🌟 2025 Nationals Recap! 🌟

Team Alberta dominated at the 2025 Nationals in Moose Jaw, SK, bringing home an incredible 32 gold, 20 silver, and 13 bronze medals!

On top of that, our athletes secured:
🥇 6 Best Lifter titles
🥈 3 Second-Place Best Lifter finishes
🥉 1 Third-Place Best Lifter finish

Huge congratulations to all our lifters for their hard work and outstanding performances! You certainly “brought the beef”!
