CAF World Cup Qualifying matches

Victor Osimen scored as the super Eagles came from behind to win in Cape Verde

Nigeria came from behind to win against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in a 2022 World cup qualifying match played at the Estadio Municipal Aderito Sena. The result meant that the Super Eagles continues to top Group C of the African 2022 World cup qualifying series with 100% record after two matches. The match started brightly for the Nigerian team when Shehu Abdulahi played in team captain Ahmed Musa but the forward could only lace his shot over the bar.

The home side grew into the match and broke the deadlock after Dylan Taveres got to an end of a long pass to slam a rocket of a shot past Maduka Okoye in goal for Nigeria. The Super Eagles quickly went for an equalizing goal after conceding as the lively Chidera Ejike force a good save off the home team’s goalkeeper and moment later Nigeria was level. It came when Cape Verde goalkeeper parried a cross from Jamilu Collins, and the ball fell kindly to the legs of Victor Osimen who simply tapped into an empty net. After leveling the scores; the Super Eagles went for the second goal as Eike’s curling shot was brilliantly saved by Vozinha, the Blue Sharks goalkeeper.

Juventus held to 2-2 draw against Udinese
Returning Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri would have hoped to mark his return to the Serie A with a win, but he had to settle for a 2-2 draw at the Dacia arena after watching his side fumble a 2-0 first half lead against Udinese.

Massimiliano Allegri's side got ahead early in the game with Paulo Dybala scoring the first goal for Juventus in the 3rd minute and later turned provider for Juve’s second in the 23rd minute for Juan Cuadrado. Roberto Pereyra pulled one back for Udinese from the spot just minutes after the restart before Gerard Deulofeu scored a dramatic equalizer for Udinese in the 83rd minute.

New signings Manuel Locatelli and Kaio Jorge were on the bench for Juventus alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, who is yet to resolve his future with the Bianconeris. Weston Mckennie was ineligible to play because of suspension, but Adrien Rabiot and Arthur couldn’t play because of injuries. Federico Chiesa is still working his way to full fitness and wasn’t in the starting line-up for Juventus.
