February 1st was quite a day for us as we kicked off the racing season with a 5.5-hour race, breaking from the usual 8-hour grind. 🏁 We started the day in freezing -2°C weather, with the track looking more like an ice rink than a racing circuit! To tackle the icy conditions, the race directors wisely called for a 10-minute full course yellow to help melt the ice.
Once we got going, things heated up quickly. Unfortunately, a BMW had a rough start and crashed into the wall right after the green flag.
Tonny jumped in for the first stint and did a fantastic job. As the track warmed up, so did his confidence, and he managed to climb up to 4th place before handing the car over to Martin.
The pit stop was tense as we and our closest rivals hit the pits together. But Martin found his rhythm and skillfully moved us into 3rd place. Dimer then took over, and after a bit of a slow start, he held onto our position with steady determination.
The day was going smoothly, with Martin even setting the fastest lap time at 2:01.3! However, during Dimer's second stint, the engine started acting up. Despite a quick pit stop for oil, the power issues persisted, but we pushed on.
Tonny took the wheel again, and despite the engine troubles, he kept us going until Martin's final stint. Martin did his best to hold our lead over 4th place, but the engine was struggling. Just 10 minutes from the finish line, things took a turn for the worse when the engine blew out, forcing us to stop.
Unfortunately, this meant we couldn't bring home a trophy as the BMW in 4th overtook us on the last lap.
Despite the setback, we're focusing on the positives: our brakes were excellent, no electronic issues, the car had great balance, and we stayed penalty-free while showing competitive speed. 🚗💨
We’ll definitely be back, stronger and ready for the next challenge! 💪 Thanks for all the support!
