**How Do You Deal with the Black Hole After Recovering from Illness, Trauma, or a Crisis Situation?**

The term "black hole" is often associated with elite athletes who struggle after their sports career ends. However, many people also feel a lack of purpose after retiring or being laid off.

In our nine years of helping various individuals through transitions, changes, and achieving new goals, we've learned that not only elite athletes face the black hole.

Anyone who has had to perform or survive under high pressure for an extended period can experience the unsettling feeling of "what do I do now and who am I now?" after a significant life transition.

For years, you have worked towards a long-term goal. There's a mark on the horizon, a deep desire to achieve something, and you're willing to make sacrifices for your higher purpose. You're passionate, driven, and perhaps even a bit obsessed.

You handle pressure and crisis situations well. People admire your perseverance, long-term vision, and lifestyle. You're focused and resist the temptation of instant gratification.

Despite the hardships, the goal gives you stability and a certain identity.

People recovering from burnout, former cancer patients, and those who have successfully sold their businesses have shared their experiences with the black hole. Even individuals who have overcome PTSD through therapy have said they were "overwhelmed" by their new identity and sudden choices in life.

Ironically, this is the moment you've been living for so long. The rest of the world is happy for you, while the support disappears and you wonder if you can handle it on your own.

As an athlete, patient, victim, or CEO, you receive support and guidance during the intense moments, but afterward, you have to manage on your own. For many people, this moment comes too soon.

That's why we, as Mind5 trainers, are here for those who want to perform optimally again, process the past further, and avoid jumping headfirst into the next adventure without direction.

We help people discover what truly energizes them, how they can optimally use their unique talents, and determine new goals and steps focusing on well-being and performance.

Crafting an Inclusive Performance Culture: A Perspective

In today's dynamic workplace landscape, the buzz around creating an inclusive performance culture is louder than ever. I have worked in and with many different performance teams, both as an executive, coach, player, and entrepreneur.

It's hard to work with a diverse team and keep everyone included when dealing with stress, pressure, and crisis situations at the same time. Everyone falls into old patterns of behavior, while at the same time we have to see the bigger picture and use all our options and players.

The benefits of inclusivity are numerous: increased innovation, higher employee engagement, and better overall performance. But why do we sometimes fall short of truly fostering an inclusive environment?

Imagine a high-performance culture where the dominant culture is deeply entrenched, rooted in long-standing relationships, traditional values, and a rigid hierarchy. In such environments, newcomers and changemakers often find themselves on shaky ground.

While those within the dominant group feel safe and secure, newcomers may struggle to find their footing, feeling unsafe, unheard, and excluded.

For the dominant leaders, it can be challenging to recognize how their unconscious behaviors may contribute to this dynamic.

Unaware of the impact of their actions, they inadvertently perpetuate feelings of insecurity and isolation among others. This can lead to a cycle of frustration, burnout, and ultimately, a breakdown in team cohesion.

Established leaders may find themselves carrying the weight of the team, frustrated by perceived passivity or lack of initiative from other members.

So, what can we do to break this cycle and cultivate a truly inclusive performance culture?

1. Foster open dialogue: Encourage honest conversations about diversity, inclusion, and unconscious bias. Create a safe space for all team members to share their perspectives and experiences. Don't just tell that it's ok to speak up, but create a safe space where people can provide honest feedback. Ask genuine questions about how they feel and show interest. Make a real effort!

2. Lead by example: As leaders, but also as team members, it's crucial to model inclusive behaviors and actively listen to diverse voices. Be willing to challenge the status quo and embrace different viewpoints. Embrace feedback as an opportunity to learn. Cultivate a growth mindset and stay curious about 'the other'.

3. Provide training and support: Equip team members with the tools and resources they need to understand and address unconscious bias. Offer coaching and development opportunities to empower individuals to understand their blind spots.

4. Hire an external expert as a sparring partner. This person can guide you and your team in the right direction, especially during the times of change.

Do you want to become a High-Performance Coach? Are you sure? 🤔

In HIGH-PERFORMANCE cultures, change is often dictated by a small group of leaders in dominant positions.

The change is not discussed with the people who have to go through change. Especially when there's hidden agenda, people have no idea why they would take the effort to go through change. This causes stress and resistance within the organization.

The result? The dominant class uses power to force chance. The feeling of getting excluded (/fired) keeps them on board. 🤐

🚫 In the end, this strategy often doesn't lead to sustainable and effective change.

As a High-Performance Coach, you will keep this (old school) system alive.

There's a better alternative!

In OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE cultures, leaders ask themselves: How could this change be effective for the organization, the people, the clients, and the environment?

They take time to inform others about their reasons for change. They include others and are interested to learn from different perspectives. These leaders base their plans on the ideas of the collective. The goal is to bring everyone on their journey. Some people might be scared, but they will get motivated once the group becomes more enthusiastic. 👫

The team commits to helping each other. As a leader, you are supported by the team, who will also lead you in the right direction. ↗

🏔 This will take more time, but it will eventually lead to long-lasting sustainable change and exponential growth.

Would you like to become an Optimal Performance Leader or an Optimal Performance Coach? At Mind5 Training B.V. we will launch a completely new program at the end of this month.

Within 6 months you will be able to bring people to their optimal performance levels. In every situation, as an independent coach/leader/consultant or as a leader in an organization. Guaranteed!

More news will follow soon!

Special thanks to Cheryl de Boer and Jan Rotmans. 🙏

Follow your dream, and become a coach!
Are you sure? Don't we already have too many coaches?

Yes and no!

We believe we can't have enough people in this world with coaching skills. In this world that changing rapidly as a result of the digital revolution and AI, our role at work changes rapidly too. Technology can never replace human connection, but we can easily lose human connection because of technology.

However, we also believe that we have too many coaches who struggle to distinguish themselves from others. They are not yet able to make the impact that they want to make and they might not have found their own style yet.

This causes stress, negative thoughts, and a lack of focus, and eventually leads to inaction...

- "Who am I to coach others?"
- "I will start offering my coaching for free to gain experience."
- "I don't like to talk about myself on social media."
- "I am not very good at sales."
- "I like to do a lot of different things and keep exploring."

We agree!
It is really tough to start a successful coaching business, especially if you have to discover everything on your own initiative.

You can not ignore the things you don't like... marketing, sales, coaching, client services, finance, and strategy. It all matters! If want to optimize your business and grow in a sustainable way, you need to keep optimizing everything constantly.

But you don't have to do it all by yourself!

That's why we created Mind5, the Mind5 M.E.T.H.O.D. and The Optimal Performance Leader Program. To help coaches, trainers, consultants and leaders make more impact!

- You will be independent and part of a team/community
- You can create your own style and fall back on proven methods and system
- You will have a partner to discuss your goals and ideas with and who will hold you accountable
- Your limiting beliefs will be replaced by empowering beliefs
- You will know everything about Optimal Performance Leadership
- You will use your unique talents with your ideal target group and work with star clients only

You will have access to our Optimal Performance Leader Program and our community.

Together we will have 3 sessions to create your personal brand and story. Your authentic personal brand is based on your personality, mission, and vision.

We can also help you with your sales strategy and teach you how to start loving sales (it's nothing more than connecting with the right people, having a personal conversation about their goals, mission, and vision, and showing them how you can help)

Maybe not always in 3 or 6 months' time, but that's allright! It's a process and we guide you as long as you need us.

Why wait longer to make an impact if you can start tomorrow?

Claim one of the 10 spots this summer for our renewed Optimal Performance Leader Program and we'll include a free invite to our Changemaker Day in Autumn!

In my work, I never really felt the flow I felt in my sports career. Maybe that's why I played sports so much. 🙄

Monday was a day to recover from my sports tournaments. 😆

I was good at the (many) things I did, but there was always something missing. I always had the feeling that I had to choose and find something.

"You are restless", "You need to focus", and "Find one niche" is what they said to me.

While in fact, my unique talent is that I am good at combining multiple disciplines to come to a complete puzzle.

Last year I started to combine all (and not just one or two) my unique talents and interests, according to the 's Unique Talents Matrix.

Now I use my experience as a coach/trainer, athlete, (ghost) writer, marketeer, consultant and business developer to help purposeful entrepreneurs/leaders/coaches become more commercially successful and impactful.

What are your unique talents?
And which talents are you not using to your full potential at the moment?

Many changemakers know how to create a buzz and inspire others. But once they have started, they often find it hard to channel their energy and powers.

Life is a great explore tour! But how do you keep focus when everything seems appealing and you want to explore every opportunity?

Are you ready to make more impact as a leader/coach/consultant? Then you have to find a balance between:

Being focused, determined, and able to quickly decide and execute on one hand 🎯

AND

Thinking big, seeing the bigger picture, and being open to exploring new opportunities. 🏔

This is a REAL challenge!

Why?

Because when we are stressed (or super focused) we fall into old patterns of behavior. Everyone has their own preference, based on their personality and personal experiences.

👉 Some people only need a goal, a road map, and clear instructions and they will get things done!!! These people are super productive under pressure.

👉 Others see the bigger picture. They come up with great out-of-the-box solutions that others don't see yet. Others work hard, while these people work smart.

But changemakers like to explore... and in new stressful situations, they can't rely on instructions or road maps.

Stress influences the parts of the brain that are responsible for strategic and long-term thinking. This means that people who usually are good at thinking outside of the box, often lose focus under pressure. They come up with too many options and solutions, without taking real and persistent action.

The solution?

1. Understand your patterns of behavior and train yourself to see new perspectives.
2. Learn to collaborate with people with different perspectives and coping strategies.
3. Learn to manage your stress and energy efficiently.
4. Improve your mental and physical fitness so you are able to handle stress better.
5. Try out new sports to help train your brain to make the switch from focus to strategy (Muay Thai, team sports, racket sports, trail running, CrossFit, they all helped me).
6. When you have more headspace take a moment to write down your values, goals, ideal clients/friends/colleagues/vacation, etc., and everything else that is important to you. At the moment that you don't have the headspace to think about what you really want, take a look at your plan and make a decision that matches your values and goals.
7. Learn how to create headspace in the heat of the moment, so you can see more options.
8. Plan your peak performance moments per day, week, month, and year and effectively plan moments for strategy and ex*****on.
9. Learn how to help other people change perspectives in the heat of the moment.
10. Find someone who can help you identify your blind spots and hold you accountable. This could be a coach or a sparring partner.

21/06/2023

You didn't know anything, because you decided to look the other way. You also never had to lie, because you didn't know anything about it.

As a result:

You got rewarded or promoted because you were loyal.
You felt inclusive and important because you were part of something.
You shared their successes.
You had a car, a good salary, a house, and an identity.

You also:

Didn't want to see what was really going on.
Ignored (or gaslighted) people with different perspectives.
Made them feel unheard, excluded, and unwanted.
Lost connection with really good warm-hearted people.

And with your feelings, emotions, and bodily awareness.

Now it's you who is feeling lonely... And freaking scared!

Because you're part of a system that only values you when you have the same values as they have.

But who are you? What are your values? And what do you stand for? Do you remember?

Don't be an old-school leader who looks away!
Be an Optimal Performance Leader!

Optimal Performance Leadership is about not looking away!

- It's about taking leadership before anyone else does!
- It's about standing up for your own values.
- It's about feeling responsible for the safety and inclusiveness of others.
- It's about taking action way before s**t hits the fan.
- It's about following your gut feeling (even when you are busy with other things).
- It's about seeing the consequences of your actions and inactions.
- It's about understanding other people's perspectives and understanding why they might be 'difficult' and cause resistance.

It's never too late to change!

We believe in Optimal Performance Leadership.

More and more people are revolting against the existing systems and the critical mass is increasingly daring to speak out. Talking about what should change is easy, but how do you actually change outdated patterns and systems?

We believe the world is transitioning and needs a new form of leadership. Leadership, in which attention is paid to performance, creation, and innovation, as well as to the individual and the environment, not from activism or idealism, but from strength and co-creation.

We call this Optimal Performance Leadership.

We believe in Optimal Performance Leadership, not only because it is better for people and the planet, but also because it is scientifically proven that people perform better (long-term) when they feel safe, heard, inclusive, involved and meaningful.

Under pressure, when it really matters, we all display irrational and sometimes destructive behavior that we are not aware of. The biggest f**k ups are made under pressure. Think of sports, business, politics, the entertainment industry, and your relationships.

After years of research, Mind5 has found the solution. We help people to make structurally better decisions under pressure and in crisis situations. Not only for themselves but also for their environment and the world.

Through our self-developed Mind5® M.E.T.H.O.D.©, we train the leaders of the future. Mind5® uses sport and movement in combination with reflections and coaching to create direct learning experiences.

The Mind5® M.E.T.H.O.D.© shows who people really are and what they stand for, when they have nothing left to hide behind or cling to.

How the Optimal Performance Leader 3.0 Program changed Scott's life.

"My potential has always been there, but I was scared of success.

We often hear of the fear of failure, but very few times do we hear about the fear of success. I feared if I experienced success, I would lose who I am. It was easier to dream and let pass by than to dream and try.

It was not until I pursued Mind5 and their Optimal Performance Leader Program that I discovered success could be life-changing and could be achieved while remaining authentically who I am.

I was able to see how success could strengthen rather than minimize who I was and how success helped me strengthen my sense of purpose, what I had to offer and what I needed or no longer needed.

It even led to the discovery of new parts of my authentic self I had forgotten or never realized I possessed.

Mind5 helped to pull me out of a “rut of safety” and towards stepping up and stepping out of my comfort zone. I finally pursued what I wanted and where I wanted to be.

I not only found my desire rekindled to do something for me, but also noticed my voice strengthened in speaking for others who may not always have the support of their leadership or team. I continue to learn and embrace the importance of what I have to offer is of value.

The Mind5 M.E.T.H.O.D. not only helped me redefine success but also gave me the terminology for what I have already been doing for many years. Often, in life, you do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Then others help you to define it.

Mind5 gives me a template to share what I do with the rest of the world!

Perhaps it sounds cheesy, but I am no longer scared of being successful! My fear has been replaced with a foundation of success in what I pursue, but also in helping others find success and become more authentically themselves as well. When one provides the opening to be authentically themselves, it opens the door for them to discover Optimal Performance.

I am honored to be part of this team!"
