WAF - Wageningen Ultimate Frisbee

Introduction period

WAF plays the game of Ultimate Frisbee, an intensive team sport. The objective of the game is to catch the frisbee in the end-zone of the opposing team. A unique aspect is that games are played without referees, which requires a fair and respectful mindset.

Every Tuesday from 20:00-21:30 and every Thursday from 19:00-20:30 during the whole month of September introduction trainings will be organized in ultimate frisbee. During this period, all trainings are open to all skill levels and there are no obligations for a membership.

During this period, you will learn the basics of ultimate frisbee and at the end of every training you have te oppertunity to apply your newly learned skills in a game. If, for some reason, you are unable to attend the first (or any other) training, do not worry. You are still more than welcome to join the other trainings. The more trainings you join, the quicker you will pick up on playing ultimate frisbee.

Yesterday, we had our annually WAF bbq. Unfortunately, the rain forced us to go inside, but it was still a great time!🍢🍉🌽

Saturday the 28st we had a great time during the first right to play tournament of the year! This is a fun tournament, which allows inexperienced players to compete against each other. Hope to see you all next time! 👐

Interested in starting a new career in sports? Every Tuesday from 20:00-21:30 and every Thursday from 19:00-20:30 during the whole month of September we will organize introduction trainings in ultimate frisbee! You can find us at the artificial grass field in front of the Bongerd. During this period all students are welcome, and you will learn the basics of ultimate frisbee. This weekend a male WAF-team defended our honour at a tournament on the beach of Hargen. The team ended up 6th (out of 24), congratulations!

Last weekend WAF played the second day of the mixed competion in Zwolle. After the long holidays (and the party the night before) we all still needed some time to really get the focus, but it went better every game. We learned how to handle the biggest enemy: the wind, and finally won 2 out of 3 games!

Last sunday WAF organised its first competition day of the year. The weather was great and so were the matches against R'damnit Ultimate Frisbee Rotterdam, Bluefingers Ultimate Frisbee Zwolle and Swamp Dragon. The first match against R'damnit was lost with a big difference, here the WAFFIES still had to get used to each other. The WAFFIES showed a lot better teamplay in the second match against Bluefingers which was lost with 9-7. We ended the day with our first victory, the third match was won with 15-3 against swamp dragons with some excellent team-play. This improvement over the course of the day is promising for the competition days that are yet to come. Thanks to all the participants who made this a great experience!

After the hottest tournament of Natte Neuzen’s history only one week ago, some WAFfies travelled to Leiden this weekend to encounter all kinds of Chemical Pleasures. Although some of us arrived a bit later than others, and some had slept a bit better than others did, we had a nice day of ultimate, and….
WE WON 1st price! Unfortunately, our winning-rage was not prolonged into the next tournament, with team Prominent being outcompeted in a very intense spikeball-match. After the usual beer-race (although... maybe not that usual) a party with some interesting encounters, conversations, lanterns and Hawaiian-skirts followed. The next day brought an overload of sun, as well as a hat-tournament. Many stable (and some unstable) chemical bonds between frisbee and human were made, and some WAFfies were very happy to win again, as could be heard from the winners-speech.

First of all: happy birthday FrisBEE Woerden! Yesterday, WAF2 visited Woerden to play some ultimate in awesome Dutch weather. Luckily everyone was very happy and the spirit was good, so we imagined bee-ing on a tropical Island all day long. During the first match we still had to get used to this nice weather, scoring 4-7 against MUG. A well-fought match against NUTS brought us our first victory: 8-6! (Even Willem suddenly showed up, thanks for supporting!) Hereafter, we were all so happy and excited that we decided to play (almost) all 10 minute points (or longer?) in the next match, facing FrisBEE Woerden. We ended on universe, with the final score becoming a loss for us... Let's say: this one was for your birthday :)

In the last match we played Swamp Dragon 2, ending in 4 - 9, congrats Swamp on promoting!

Soon after our last match we could enjoy the BBQ hosted by FrisBEE Woerden, which was very bee-licious and great fun. Hope to see all of you on already the last competition day in June!
