Hi all as a move thats been coming over last few weeks I will be stepping out of the running of Light and Dark Diving and dive instruction and leaving it in the hands of Karla, Floor and Megan three amazing divers, instructors (future instructors). A huge shout out and congratulations to Arno on completing his Dive master certification. Arno shows not only passion for diving, ensuring a deep understanding in theory and experience but also an amazing level of focus on getting divers involved from young to old. Have you ever considered CCR? If not, why? While for many divers, it may seem quite daunting but it's just a point of view and an opinion that is sometimes formed from watching YouTube... Yes, CCR is more complicated than open circuit and the procedures required are more detailed and intensive but it also opens a new avenue of diving. If you're interested, why not get in touch?😎

Knowing how to back kick is an important skill to master not only in technical diving but also in recreational. In technical diving, it may help avoid kicking up silt in caves whereas in recreational, it may help move away from live coral if diving somewhere warm!

At Light & Dark Diving, we pride ourselves in our support of women in tech diving. As one of our founders is the only female tech instructor in the Netherlands, Karla Reynolds, we believe there should be more, not only, female tech divers, but also female instructors. As a result, we have decided to run a Women in Tech Diving Scholarship, which offers the opportunity for women in diving to develop their skills and knowledge in tech diving at a high quality.

One of the most popular course we offer are the TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures. While the courses are separate, they're often completed together.

The Advanced Nitrox course qualifies divers to use enriched air nitrox from EAN 21 through EAN 100 percent within your current certification level to a maximum depth of 40 metres/130 feet during dives that do not require staged decompression. The TDI Decompression Procedures course prepares you for planned staged decompression diving. With a maximum operating depth of 45 metres/150 feet, this course is your first step beyond the normal sport diving limits. Is this something you are interested in? The SDI Course Director Course is the first module of SDI’s Instructor Trainer (IT) Development Program. This program trains candidates to conduct the SDI Instructor Development Course (IDC) independently. In addition, SDI Course Directors are qualified to conduct the SDI Non-Diving Specialty Instructor Course and specialty ratings for SDI Instructors and Assistant Instructors.

We have a number of Course Director candidates at the moment but we are always happy to take more on. If you're interested, why not get in touch😎

A run away (or kicked off) mask is no reason for a panic, although to some divers it may seem like a reason to. Practising skills like the deployment of a back up mask helps avoid panic and the end of a dive!

This program trains candidates to conduct the SDI Instructor Development Course (IDC) independently. In addition, SDI Course Directors are qualified to conduct the SDI Non-Diving Specialty Instructor Course and specialty ratings for SDI Instructors and Assistant Instructors. This course is designed for individuals that wish to teach others “How to Teach” scuba.
