Exploring the depths of consciousness through breathwork and freediving 🌬️🌊

Last week I competed in my second depth competition (including static!) with Fabiolous Freediving. The timing couldn't have been better; I already had a few weeks of depth training at WVOP under my belt and had just wrapped up my coaching with Florian Dagoury.

The competition was super well organized, the atmosphere was amazing, and I'm really happy with my results:

🔹 40m bifins
🔹 33m no fins
🔹 5:46 static

It was extra special to have my girl zelfzoekers by my side and combine the competition with an amazing holiday.

This week brought so much more than just PBs. I gained valuable experience both as an athlete being coached and as a coach myself. I discovered the magic of a night dive, and finally understood why freedivers love pool noodles so much (thanks, Rebecca Dziajlo , for your pink noodle support! 😄).

Tried the Cardisuit this week, basically giving myself a controlled CO₂ bath.

The sensations were wild: deep relaxation and this incredible warmth that felt like it came from inside the body, just beneath the skin. Weird in the best possible way!

Might write a bit more about this experience at a later moment! Let me know if you’re curious.

New dive watch: the Garmin Descent G2! Took it to the pool yesterday and tomorrow outdoors for a depth session. How cool is the branded watch face?! 😎

2025 was about improving & collaborating 🌊🫁

What a year for BreatheNautics! We collaborated with .nl and , hosted breathwork circles, freediving courses and workshops. In 2025, we guided and educated over 150 people, while improving and expanding our products. What a year!

Bas on his personal year: “it was mostly awesome!” I set a few new freediving PBs: 100m DNF / 50 m depth / 5:45 STA. I moved in with my girlfriend, joined a new freediving club .freediving, did my first depth competition, and obtained my depth competition safety certification. My breathwork journey was deeply insightful as well. I completed another round of The Presence Process by Michael Brown and went a bit deeper into myself once again.

Not everything was fine and dandy, there were a few failures and setbacks too. I set some fun strength related goals (muscle-up / single-leg squat), but never came close to reaching them. Then again, I simply didn’t put in the work. There were a few flu-related breaks in my training program, and after a lovely holiday in Tenerife, I never returned to cold-water exposure missing November and December. I was too spoiled by the warmth. Minor hiccups and let’s try harder/smarter next loop around the sun.

Now it’s time to slow down toward the end of 2025. Thank you all for an amazing year!
