She sat in front of me, eyes tired, not from lack of sleep, but from the constant noise in her mind 😧
She said “I can’t stop overanalyzing everything even after work, my mind doesn’t stop”
And as she spoke, I saw the pattern so clearly.
It wasn’t about the job. It wasn’t about pressure.
It was about safety ↴
For years, she grew up in a home where mistakes weren’t safe.
Where getting something wrong meant being scolded, shamed, or ignored.
So her mind learned to survive by staying one step ahead by predicting, perfecting, overthinking.
Now, decades later, that same little girl still runs the show, except she’s doing it in a corporate boardroom instead of her childhood home.
Her brain doesn’t know the difference.
It just knows that safety means getting it right 😰
When she realized that… tears fell. Not from sadness but from relief ↴
Because she finally understood:
She wasn’t broken.
She wasn’t weak.
She was still protecting herself from an old version of danger.
And the moment she saw that, everything softened.
Her mind stopped being the enemy and became something to love, to rewire, to heal.
That’s where the real work begins, not in forcing yourself to think less, but in teaching your nervous system that it’s safe to not have all the answers.
Because when your inner world feels safe, overthinking stops being protection… and starts becoming peace 💛
If you read this and felt yourself in her story… you don’t need to do this alone.
