Looking forward to it!
In 1951, a new race emerged: the 100-mile race, better known as the Bruine Bank Race. This race ran from Hook of Holland, around a buoy on the Bruine Bank, to IJmuiden. The purpose of this initially annual race was to promote the sport of sea sailing in the Netherlands while giving participants the opportunity to qualify for North Sea Club membership. For this reason, the race was also called the ‘nursery race’. (from: W.P. Coolhaas, Contest Sailing at Sea)
