35 Years, Stories of Trust: Sarlin “Mohjing”
When Sarlin, fondly known to everyone as “Mohjing,” joined Oriental in 2006, Oriental was a very different place.
It was still a standalone store with only a handful of employees. Some employees even stayed in, and life at Oriental felt almost like living with one big family.
Mohjing fondly remembers those simpler days—especially Sundays, when Team Oriental would often pack up and head somewhere together, usually to the beach.
And one particular outing in 2007 would change her life.
Young Mohjing, with her striking features, expressive sharp eyes, and unmistakable Middle Eastern beauty, caught the eye of a young man named Atoy.
And, well… the rest became their love story. ❤️
A year later, Mohjing left Oriental when she became pregnant. But two years later, she found her way back home to Oriental.
And she stayed.
What makes Mohjing’s journey particularly special is that she belongs to a generation personally trained and mentored by Oriental’s founder and patriarch, Ricardo.
Mohjing became one of his protégés, learning the business directly from the man who built it. The lessons, discipline, and knowledge passed on to her would later be passed on to another generation of Oriental employees.
Through the years, we watched her grow from Sales Clerk, to Secretary, to Purchaser, and today, she serves as Accounts Officer and a member of Oriental’s Admin Team.
Much of Mohjing’s contribution happens quietly, away from the spotlight. Yet her influence remains throughout Oriental. Many of our sales clerks learned from her and were guided by her, carrying forward knowledge that, in many ways, traces back to Oriental’s earliest generation.
Loyal. Trustworthy. Steady.
Mohjing knew Oriental when we were small. She has watched employees come and go, branches open, responsibilities grow, and the little standalone store she once knew become something much bigger.
And through so much of that journey, she was there.
Thank you, Sarlin—our dear Mohjing—for nearly two decades of shared memories, loyalty, trust, and quiet service.
And perhaps most meaningfully, thank you for carrying forward what was once personally entrusted to you by our founder—and passing it on to those who came after.
