This means we will not be taking any commissions for the foreseeable future. It’s been quite a run; we’ve made so many tents for so many wonderful people. We haven’t really kept count so no clue as to how many. There have been a few special projects in between the regulars, some that will definitely stay close is the tent for the Prince of Orange project for Waterloo 2015. It had all the trimmings, liner with rose motif, chandeliers etc. Luckily it found a good home after the project was finished. And the tents made for the TV show “In Flanders Fields”.
This is the end.

There are a few people we would like to thank.
All of our customers, you rock and kept us going!
My family, the misses had to put up with all the sewing machines, fabric, late nights working on deadlines, rope, bits, pieces and especially the dust……duuuuuust everywhere……
My dad, for always willing to help out with all kinds of jobs like making poles, making the candelabras for the tent of the Prince of Orange (cutting a chandelier in half and modifying them to take candles instead of e24 bulbs and fit around round poles). He also made all of our special tools used for woodworking.
And last but not least, mother-in-law for helping out so many times to get stuff finished, our first ever tent was made with her help in her living room actually, I still have it after some 16 years and it’s still going strong. (we like to make our stuff durable)
So, why? Well, there are many reasons to continue, but just as many if not more to put things on hold for a wee bit. Let’s keep it simple, currently (actually for quite a while) it’s nigh on impossible to combine all other obligations/priorities (family, day job, army reserves and May ’40 Miniatures are a few of the most important) and run a business like making tents. One thing we’ve never compromised on is quality, and if it becomes impossible to keep up that quality then it’s time to analyze why. Tents of Old runs on a simple thought: We won’t sell anything we would not want to buy ourselves.
So, this is goodbye (for now, maybe sometime in the future, who knows…)
Leaves only, Goodbye!! And thank you all!!
