With the start of the Honda Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup in 2011 the organization set a goal to fill the gap in The Dutch road race motorsport between the pocket bike, the moped races and the NSF Cup, riding the smaller kart circuits, and the 600cc talent cups and Open Dutch championship rounds on the international race circuits. The initiators of the Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup, Ten Kate Racing Products,
KNMV and CRT developed a concept which made it possible for young pilots to race on a professional level against an affordable budget and with personal attention from coaches with international race experience. The major starting point of the Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup was, and still is, that all material and with that the possibilities to excel for all riders, must be as equal as possible. For this reason all maintenance and preparation of the Moriwaki bikes is done in the workshop of Ten Kate Racing Products in Nieuwleusen. Additional every rider is assigned a bike by lottery every few events. Due to the absolute equality in material the talented riders will emerge from the pack quicker which makes it easier for them to be picked up by scouts for the racing classes following the Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup. Additional support for the riders off the track is available in the form of workshops covering (motor)technics, media training and fitness training. In this way the riders skills are developed both on and off the track to prepare them to step-up to a follow-up class like the Red Bull Rookies Cup or the Moto3. In 2013 the Moriwaki 250 junior Cup delivered his first rider to the GP circuit. Livio Loi, a 2011 Moriwaki contender, qualified for the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2012. Already after one season the talent of Livio was noticed in the GP circuit and in 2013 and 2014 he will continue as a permanent rider in the Moto3. Also double champion (2011, 2012) Bo Bendsneijder and 2013 champion Robert Schotman will compete in 2014 in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. In other Dutch championships you will see many more former Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup rider. After three seasons we proudly can conclude that:
The Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup offers a rider the right opportunities to develop their skills to a level required to step up to the (inter)national race divisions. The race level of within the cup is high given the fact that riders are able to compete within an international riders field.
