Sidemount diving in open ocean is getting more and more popular for various reasons. One being the pro of having access to extra gas in remote areas where manifolded twins are not readily available. Pure focus before backrolling in. When the pre-dive drills are done and we made sure all the equipment works and everyone is on point with the plan its a small window of pure focus to ensure personal performance on the dive.

Personal progression is important for a technical diving instructor. Over the past years I decided it was time to make the transition from Open Circuit Trimix to Rebreathers. Yesterday, after a long break of CCR diving due to COVID, I completed my eCCR SF2 Mixed Gas Diluent diver course with allowing me to dive to 60m on rebreathers using trimix. This brings be closer to my goal of becoming a 100m trimix CCR diver and eventually a rebreather instructor.

What to do when you have long deco to clear? Don't you get bored? There's plenty of options to entertain yourself: practise skills, evaluate the dive, pre copied sudoku on wet notes, tic tac toe with your buddies, you name it!

It's good to appreciate the 'little' things in life. The same goes for diving. Where there is a big wreck, there's a 'small' anchor. The lust for rust was real last october in Malta.
