Binnenkort geef ik een meerdaagse opleiding bij Academie Bo Yi te Zoetermeer. Deze opleiding omvat verschillende oefeningen om Qi in the handen te versterken en om er in de praktijk mee aan de slag te gaan. de oefeningen omvatten verschillende Daoyin oefeningen die ik heb samengesteld vanuit de verschillende systemen die ik ken en vanuit eigen ervaring.
Daarnaast zal ik ook belangrijke theorie aankaarten en partneroefeningen doen om het geleerde in de praktijk te brengen.

The school focuses on Yangstyle taijiquan and tuishou.

Ruud has learned Daoyin, Baguazhang and Xingyiquan apart from Taijiquan. this gives him a broad view on the internal arts.
The system and methodology involves:
-daoyin
-qigong
-forms (fast and slow)
-tuishou
-sanshou
-weapons
-medicine, philosophy

My goal is to practice towards quality with a group that is like family. You don't have to be a master to enjoy taiji but I do want you to try your best and train consistently.
We will practice the martial side of taiji because it is necessary to develop skill. Without contact one cannot understand taiji. Physical contact is one of the best teachers to learn about yourself.

My school and methodology relies heavily on Shen/Xin leads Yi, Yi leads Qi, Qi leads Li. Meaning that the heart and the mind are the commander of the body and its force. We move slow in taiji to help our mind to guide every little detail in the form. We try to be present continuously during the form. Make no mistake this is hard work!
By training in this way you will however develope a certain skill and you will feel Qi moving. It's very tangible and clear.

Ruud is a student of sifu Eleonora from the liu he men school and of Liang de hua from the chuan cheng taijiquan. After 25 years of training he still regularly studies ad meets his teachers. This is the real traditional way.

On a baguazhang forum someone asked what makes baguazhang an internal style?

Many replied with how we train the waist, walk in circles, train tendon not muscles, use fajin and so on....

But that's all just external. Many sports do this. To my personal understanding internal means the intent leads the qi, the qi generates the power. This is fundamentally different than external sports. It's the development of connection of the mind and body...not just physical alignment. But it is true that the mental can not without the physical part. We are human being we have to work with our body, we are stuck with it till we die.
Bagua follows the principles of the philosophy like the bagua and liang yi. We try to feel and listen to the flux and flow of the universe in the micro cosmos of our human body. We try to reflect the si xiang (4 movement or seasons) in our movements and body. We want to study the effect on the qi dynamics in our body. Open and closing, up and down, exiting and entering. By doing this we become balanced and achieve a body better fit to do martial arts and become better human being or just enjoy life a little more.

When you train internal martial arts for a long time the mere thought of movement sends energy running up and down your spine and limbs. This is quite addictive and makes you want to do more.

Qi chen dan tian. Ofwel laat de qi naar dantian zinken lijkt een simpel principe. Iedere leraar zegt het en elke leerling herhaalt het. Je vind echter nergens een duidelijk omschrijven van wat dit zinken nu eigenlijk inhoud. Elk lichaam is anders en heeft zijn eigen intrinsieke blokkades. We hebben enkel oefeningen, intenties en oude geschriften om ons in de juiste richting te leiden. Hoe langer ik train, hoe minder vormen ik doe, hoe stiller ik sta, hoe meer ik voel.

The more i train the less forms I want to do. I want to understand basic internal movements. In, out, up, down, spread, consolidate. The feeling of mental and physical alignment is the holy trail of training. I find myself loving the simplicity of just a punch or the twist of a palm movement.
