Your body is changing. That doesn’t mean it’s failing you.⁠

When your sleep, energy, mood, and pain feel unpredictable the mind rushes to fill the gaps with stories.⁠

“This is only going to get worse.“⁠
“I used to be able to handle so much more.“⁠
“Maybe this is just what getting older feels like.“⁠
“I don’t recognise myself anymore.“⁠

These thoughts feel like facts. They’re not.⁠

They’re fear talking and fear is a terrible doctor.⁠

The story you tell yourself about what’s happening in your body shapes how you move through it. It shapes what you try, what you avoid, what you believe is still possible for you.⁠

Perimenopause is a transition, not a deterioration.⁠
Your body isn’t betraying you. It’s communicating loudly, sometimes overwhelmingly, but it is asking to be listened to, not shut off.⁠

What would change if you responded to your body with curiosity instead of fear?⁠

Pain won’t get better on patience alone, it gets better when you show up for your body consistently.

Walking.

Strength.

eat a little less… train a little harder.

You’ve always been disciplined.
You know how to push through.

And now you’re wondering why it’s not working anymore.

What’s the FIRST word you see?

This isn’t a personality test.
It’s your Reticular Activating System (RAS) at work.

Your brain is constantly filtering information.
Not showing you everything but only what it thinks matters.

And here’s the important part for women 40+.
Your brain is a prediction machine.

If it predicts:
“I’m stiff.”
“I need to be careful.”
“This pain is just part of aging.”

Your RAS will zoom in on anything that confirms that story.
More tension.
More aches.
More proof.

But if your system starts noticing:
Strength.
Ease.
Capability.
Safety in movement.

That becomes the new evidence.

The word you see first says less about who you are
and more about what your brain is currently tuned into.

Pain isn’t just physical.
It’s neurological.
And that also means it’s changeable.

Do you think that training 5x/week will bring you results? Think again.

Let’s do the math:
A week has 168 hrs. You train 5x/week.
That is 5 hours of 168, i.e. 2.9% of you life.

If you are giving your all in the 5 hours but
⛓️‍💥 Sleep 4 hours every night...
⛓️‍💥 Are not eating enough and skipping meals..
⛓️‍💥 Are sitting in front of your computer for 8 hrs straight..

Your efforts won’t pay off.

5 hours of training creates the stimulus for change.
The remaining 163 hours determine the outcome.

Waking up groggy because you couldn’t fall asleep last night, you prepare everybody and including yourself to face the day.

You drag yourself to the office after having 2 cups of coffee. You spent 8 hours at work with 3 deadlines you barely met. You hardly ate anything because you were busy. The only thing you had was a piece of someone’s birthday cake. More coffee to keep you awake throughout the afternoon dip.

And by the time you get to the gym, you’re running on fumes.

Then one light kettlebell swing sends your back into misery and you swear you’re never going to do another swing ever again.

But the truth?

It wasn’t the swing. It was *everything* that stacked up before it.

Your body has a capacity line. When you pile on:

• long work hours and rushing from task to task
• poor sleep and high stress
• minimal food or hydration
• mobility/strength imbalances

…you’re already right at that line before you even touch a kettlebell.

The swing isn’t the problem but the load is.

But what if you could shrink those loads by improving your recovery and functional deficits, giving you more capacity to live the life you want.

We want to gain capacity, not just avoid load!

One of the most effective ways to immediately decrease your total daily load is to tackle the Recovery box, specifically by managing stress. It significantly affects your nervous system and contributes to your total load. We want to shift your body out of “break-down mode” and into “build-up mode”.

⭐ Here is one thing you can do right now: Use 5 minutes of “box breathing” (inhale 4s, hold 4s, exhale 4s, hold 4s) to shift your nervous system from break-down to build-up mode.
