DAILY RECAP: Monday
We started the day with a healthy breakfast, before collecting the hire van and driving the almost two hours to Helenaveen. Everyone agreed Kathy is a superior driver, some even compared her to the Stig.
A quick pit stop at Aldi ensured we had some essentials like water, bananas, and haribo snakes to fuel the upcoming training session. It’s incredibly hot and humid at Realstrike, particularly coming from winter at home.
We all met Fivves and Bert, and even though they’re a few days out of competition with a lot to do, they were super welcoming and ensured we knew our way around and were comfortable.
Despite replicating the field at Hardcore, nothing could compare with stepping on the actual field at Realstrike. The ground is soft and spongy, the arena is imposing and dark, and the entire venue is HUGE!
The bunkers are next level. We think Hardcore’s bunkers are solid, well these things are on steroids! About 20cm thick and heavy as a house, they’d definitely win a fight between a mismatched slide and a toe or finger!
Whilst we weren’t getting our pistols and rifles until Tuesday, we were incredibly lucky to be set up with some rifles by not only Realstrike, but our favourite Belgium friend,
With a squad of four returning players, and three newbies, watching the new guys run airsoft for the first time was pretty awesome. It wasn’t long before the boys were business as usual. Monday’s training session was all about lines, and the boys wasted no time in dialling it in.
Next up was a team meeting and dinner - if you’re not a fan of spicy or exotic food, then Netherlands is the place for you! After watching waste his euros on the weirdest poker machine you’ve ever seen, the boys headed to bed for some well earned rest.
Tuesday is a big day. Stay tuned.
