A donkey said to a tiger:
"The grass is blue."
The tiger resisted:
"No, the grass is green."
The discussion heated up and the two decided to submit the case for arbitration. They turned to the Lion, the king of beasts.
Before the king could say anything, the donkey cried out:
"Your Highness, isn't it true that the grass is blue?"
The King replied:
"You are right. Your grass is blue.”
The donkey took a step forward and continued:
“Tiger doesn't agree with me, he contradicts me and annoys me. Punish him.”
Then the king proclaimed:
“As a punishment for his transgression the tiger is not allowed to speak to donkeys for five years.”
Donkey jumped for joy and brayed as he left:
“Grass is blue, grass is blue...”
Tiger accepted his punishment, but asked King Lion:
"Your Majesty, why did you punish me, the grass is green, isn't it?"
The Lion replied:
“In reality, the grass is green.”
And Tiger continued:
"Then why do you forbid me to speak to donkeys?"
King Lion:
“This has nothing to do with whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment I gave you is because such a brave and intelligent creature like you is wasting his time arguing with a donkey. And next to that comes to me and bothers me with this question.”
The moral of the story:
The worst waste of time is arguing with a fool or bigoted soul who cares nothing for truth or reality, but only seeks to win with his beliefs and illusions.
Never waste your time on discussions that lead you nowhere.
There are those who, despite all the evidence available, are still shrouded in misunderstanding or others who are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment. All they really want is to be right, even if deep down they know they aren't.
When ignorance screams, intelligence is silent. Keeping your peace and quiet is of greater value.
Continue to speak your truth, and live your truth. Invite to dialogue. But never fight a fool. Because he pulls you down to his level and beats you with experience.
Finally, it's good to remember: the donkey feeds on the grass, the tiger feeds on the donkey, and the grass eventually feeds on both.
