Technical slabs, crimpy overhangs and decent weather conditions!🧗
Last Saturday we packed our crashpads and headed out for ESAC’s first bouldering weekend in the Odenwald Valley. More specifically, we chose Felsenmeer, for its unique quartz-diorite boulders and diverse climbing styles.
From getting shut down on 3s to projecting problems in the 7th grade and eventually sending a few 6s, the experience was humbling for many of the group. People discovered that outdoor boulders are rarely as juggy as their indoor counterparts, that falls can be unforgiving depending on the landing and that thus good spotters are essential.
Between the stunning landscape of the valley, the cool forest shade on boulders and countless quality problems, there’s little doubt that ESAC will be returning to Odenwald Valley in the future!
