Last Saturday, nearly 60 fencers from across the country gathered at this year’s Intercity Tournament for a fun day of competition. Congratulations to all the medalists! 🏆🔥

We are very happy to have the service of two wonderful and professional external help, Jonas from HS as our Tournament Director, and Sam from Treville as our Foil Referee. Additional thanks to Coach Patrick and Sacha, who kindly gave their time as volunteer referees for the day.

Huge thank you to our Intercity Committee (Rose, Anna, Michiel) for pulling the event together, to Martijn for driving the borrowed equipment around, and to our Bout Assistants (Coach Patrick, Hua, Lily) for helping running the tournament smoothly. A big shout out to Thies our grill master for the BBQ afterwards!

We’re also incredibly grateful to for lending us the space, and to and for renting the tournament equipment to us.

And to everyone who joined us — thank you, we hope you had as much fun as we did! See you all next year! ❤️

Twenty years isn’t a long time in the life of a city, but it’s long enough for a community to take shape. Esprit has grown not through grand ambitions but the gentle rhythm of students coming here to train, to unwind, and to meet whoever happens to be there on the other end of the piste. Little by little, those small moments stitched themselves into something that feels lasting.

Every year brings a new mix of faces, every one adding their own chapter before moving on, and that steady flow is part of what keeps Esprit alive. Many lifelong friendships began here on nights that felt completely unremarkable at the time.

The anniversary dinner on Saturday made all of this tangible. It reminded us that the heart of Esprit has always been its people, held together by the simple joy of fencing.

Here’s to the next twenty years of student fencing, and to everyone for being a part of this journey 💛

Last month, the Great Dutch Student Championship (GNSK) took place in Nijmegen 🧡

With strong results across all three weapons — and the highest medal count overall — Amsterdam once again proved itself as the strongest student fencing city in the Netherlands!
