Karate & Kobudo Delft

We have had the "KARATE meets KAMAJUTSU" seminar this morning in The Hague. The seminar has been attended by a dedicated group of high rank kobudo and karate sensei and practitioners. Wim vd Leur Shihan has taken the K**a block, with kihon and Tozan kata with bunkai. I have taken the Karate block with a 3 sets of kihon composed of tecniques of around 15 sh*to-ryu kata, Shinpa kata and a couple of bare handed aplications based on Tozan kata. Reciprocal similarities between the two disciplines have been established. We thank the NFK for hosting this event, with special appreciation to Lennard Boogard for his support.

"KARATE meets JU JUTSU" 7th edition.
As in previous editions we had a nice and comitted crowd with several relevant faces from the Dutch JuJutsu and Karate arena. We practiced aplications from Yawara and Nakoni Jujutsu as well as Sei Pai, Seienchin, Kosokun, Geki Sai and Kururunfa kata. Thanks to NFK for hosting us.

´Karate meets Jujutsu 2024´ seminar already finished this morning. Full house turn-up with 50% karateka and 50% jujutsuka. As customary, a very comitted crowd with nice dynamics and good vibes.
Looking forward to organise the next one!

Yesterday we hosted a clinic with Martha Nayombe sensei, from Zambia. The event was one of the many activities we do in support of FairFight Foundation. The group went though kata Wanshu (Shorin ryu version), practiced some bunkai and kumite drills.
As always, we are happy to contribute to a good cause while we train and share karate. Thanks to those who attended as we as to those who couldn´t but have contributed with some funds anyway.

Introduction to Karate Clinic in the ISK in Delft.
A group of enthusiastic (and loud!) school teachers learnt today some basics of Karate. Good fun for all and everyone went back home safe ! Thanks for the opportunity.

7Masters Seminar, The Hague, Oct2022.
Good atmosphere with a large group of passionate, dedicated and attentive budokas from different backgrounds. Glad to have received good feedback from attendees. Many thanks to the organisation for inviting me. Thank you as well to Feike van Det sensei for his beautiful set of photos.

Goede sfeer met een grote groep gepassioneerde, toegewijde en attente budoka's met verschillende achtergronden. Blij met de goede feedback van de aanwezigen. Veel dank aan de organisatie voor de uitnodiging. Ook dank aan Feike van Det sensei voor zijn prachtige set foto's.

Rob Zwartjes sensei has passed away at the age of 91. He has been a remarkable budoka. He is considered the founder of Wadō-Ryū and Kobujutsu in the Netherlands. He was one of the first students of Kono Teruo, and also trained karate under Hironori Otsuka, Hakoishi Katsumi and Arakawa Toru, and kobujutsu under Gansho Inoue. From 1971 to 1981 he was the national karate coach of the Netherlands, winning in Tokyo in 1977 two gold medals with his team in the individual and the team competition. He was a member of the WKF Technical Commission for five years.
