Some words from Steffi Häberlin after today’s stage.👇🏼
“Yesterday was already a really nice start to the Tour de Suisse, and today we tried the same approach again,” said Steffi Häberlin. “A big thank you to Julia Kopecký, Femke Markus and Marta Lach, because they did a great job again today. It was a really hectic and fast approach to the first climb.”
Despite having to fight back more than once, Steffi stayed in the mix with the favourites all day.
“On the first climb I found myself with the big favourites and even though I lost a few seconds over the top, I managed to come back,” she said. “On the second climb I lost a few seconds again, so I found myself chasing Marlen (Reusser) and Kasia (Niewiadoma).
I was really surprised when they suddenly came from behind again,” Steffi laughed. “They went the wrong way at one point, so my recon paid off once more.”
In the sprint, our Swiss champion held her own brilliantly.
“I managed to finish third in the sprint, which is my best WorldTour result, and I think I can be happy with that progress.”
