American Football club in Arnhem, Netherlands De naam Falcons is gekozen omdat wij op sportpark Valkhuizen speelden. De Falcons promoveerden naar de eredivisie.

Arnhem Falcons is een American Football vereniging die in 1989 is opgericht door een aantal oud spelers van de Running Bears. De officiële naam is ESCA Arnhem Falcons gezien wij onderdeel zijn van de OMNI vereniging ESCA. In het begin speelden de Falcons in groen wit, de kleuren van de OMNI vereniging. In 1997 zijn deze veranderd in royal blue, wit en zilver. In 2010 zijn de Falcons verhuisd naar

sportpark 't Cranevelt. De Falcons zijn aangesloten bij de AFBN (American Football Bond Nederland). Er zijn 22 verenigingen aangesloten bij de bond, verspreid over heel Nederland. In de eerste jaren waren de Falcons niet zo succesvol. In 1994 wisten de Falcons voor het eerst meer wedstrijden te winnen dan te verliezen. Dit was het begin van een lange weg naar de finale in 1996 die we niet wisten te winnen van de Amsterdam Crusaders. In 1997 was het eindelijk zo ver en wisten de Falcons de finale van de 2e divisie te winnen van de Hoorn Unicorns. Als kroon op het werk werden wij in 1997 ook nog kampioen van de BeNeLux. De jeugd van de Falcons was inmiddels al 5 keer Nederlands kampioen geworden. De jaren erna waren voor de Falcons in de competitie zeer succesvol alleen werden wij steeds in de halve finale uitgeschakeld. In 2002 was het ledental van de senioren aardig terug gelopen en dit was uiteindelijk ook te merken aan de resultaten. Als vereniging werd er geïnvesteerd in de jeugdafdeling. De jeugd wist goed te maken wat de senioren lieten liggen. Na meerdere malen in de finale te hebben gestaan wisten de junioren van Falcons in 2005 kampioen van Nederland te worden. Door de doorstroom van de junioren naar de senioren werd het seniorenteam groter en dat was ook te zien aan de resultaten. In 2006 en 2007 werden de Falcons ingedeeld in de zwaarste poule van de 1e divisie waardoor steeds net niet de halve finale werd gehaald.
2008 is het jaar waarin Arnhem iedereen versteld deed staan. Van de 10 competitie wedstrijden werden er 7 gewonnen. Er werd éénmaal verloren van de toenmalig kampioen van Nederland, Maastricht Wildcats, in overtime. Na de reguliere speelminuten was de stand 12-12. De andere twee wedstrijden werden verloren van de Amsterdam Crusaders. De eerste met één punt verschil en de tweede met twee punten verschil. Dit was het jaar dat de Falcons voor het eerst meededen aan de play offs, die werd verloren van de Crusaders. Dit resulteerde in het feit dat de Falcons 3de van Nederland zijn geworden, het hoogste wat ooit bereikt is. Doordat er veel spelers stopten werd het in 2009 een zwaar jaar voor de Falcons. Ze wisten alleen de laatste wedstrijd tegen Utrecht te winnen. Daarna volgde een promotie/degradatie wedstrijd tegen Alphen Eagles. Deze werd met 14-42 gewonnen door Alphen Eagles waardoor de Falcons in 2010 in de 2e divisie moesten uitkomen. In 2010 werden allle competitie wedstrijden gewonnen en de Falcons waren ongeslagen kampioen van de zuid poule. De finale tegen Amersfoort als eerste wedstrijd op de nieuwe locatie werd verloren met 10-12.

2011 Was een succesvol jaar voor de Falcons. In de reguliere competitie werd slechts 1x verloren (de eerste uitwedstrijd van het seizoen in en tegen Spijkenisse) en het team sloot af met een 7-1 record. In de play offs werd vervolgens gewonnen van de Hilversum Hurricanes (29-13) waarna in de finale de Nijmegen Pirates de tegenstander waren. In het reguliere seizoen waren beide teams elkaar al twee keer eerder tegen gekomen en ook in de finale bleek het krachtsverschil tussen de teams te groot. De Falcons wonnen de finale met 21-0 en zijn daarmee kampioen van de tweede divisie. Het kampioenschap betekent tevens dat de Falcons in 2012 weer in de eerste divisie zullen uitkomen.

ONCE A FALCON, ALWAYS A FALCON 🪽🪽🪽

Some moments are bigger than football.

This past weekend, we said goodbye to two Falcons who have left a lasting mark on our club.

After an impressive coaching career, Coach Christian Heister coached his final game as a Falcon. His passion, leadership, and commitment have helped shape countless players throughout the season. Thank you, Coach. 💪🏈

We also celebrated the retirement of #75 Bouke , who hangs up his cleats after 17 seasons on the field. Seventeen seasons of hard work, dedication, brotherhood, and unforgettable memories. A true Falcon through and through. 🍻🔥

And of course, no football retirement is complete without a well-deserved shower! 💦💦💦

To Christian and Bouke: thank you for everything you have given to this club. Your impact will be felt for years to come.
