Funk carioca, also known as favela funk, and in other parts of the world, baile funk and Brazilian funk. It is a hip-hop style dance originating from Rio de Janeiro, derived from Miami bass and gangsta rap music.
In Brazil, funk carioca is most often simply known as funk, which can be misleading since it is very different musically from what funk means internationally.
