We are the UK's largest LGBTQ+ aquatics club 🏳️‍🌈 Offering everyone the opportunity to get into swimming, water polo, open water and artistic swimming.

You'll find us in London, Brighton & Bristol. Out To Swim is an aquatics club for adults based in London, Brighton and Bristol. Founded in 1992 by a small band of enterprising swimmers from the LGBTQ+ community, we offer a comprehensive programme for those wishing to enjoy swimming in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Most of our members are LGBTQ+, but we welcome all allied adults with an in

terest in aquatic sport, including those with disabilities. At the core of our team is equal respect and equality, irrespective of any difference in age, sexual orientation, gender, faith, ethnic origin, nationality, or any other grounds. We offer participation in swimming, lessons, open water, water polo and artistic swimming, all taught by our dedicated team of experienced coaches and teachers. Although entirely optional, many of our members enjoy competing in tournaments all around the world! Whether you are looking to swim socially, just starting out or fancy your hand at competition, we provide a comprehensive and inclusive program to help you find your feet. We pride ourselves on creating a friendly and encouraging atmosphere for everyone. So if you’re looking for a community or searching for a group of people to get active with, come say hello!

Out Swim is incredibly proud to receive The King’s Award for Voluntary Service 2025 — the highest honour a UK voluntary group can achieve. 🏅🌈 This recognition celebrates every volunteer, coach, committee member, supporter, friend and family member who gives their time and energy to make our club what it is. This award is for all of you. ❤️

To celebrate LGBT+ History Month, we honour the trailblazers within our club, including Ivan Bussens, whose efforts have shaped the foundation of who we are today. Each year, presents the Ivan Bussens Award in loving memory of Ivan Bussens (1960-2007), a pioneering Out to Swim member whose unwavering dedication played a crucial role in the club’s growth and its commitment to diversity and inclusion.
