Most beginners have one kick speed: maximum. π
That's why 25 metres feels like a sprint every single time.
Your legs are the most expensive part of your stroke. They burn a huge amount of oxygen for a relatively small amount of forward movement β so kicking flat out on every length drains you long before your arms are the problem.
π Long, easy swimming β slow and relaxed. Legs mostly there for balance.
π Steady pace β moderate kick. Enough push without emptying the tank.
π Short sprint β everything you've got, for as long as you can hold it.
The skill isn't kicking hard. It's knowing when not to. π
Which speed do you swim at? Be honest. π
