*Topic: Positioned for your all-around favour part 2*
_Devotional by Pst Ben Inaku_
*Text Scripture*
Psalm 90:17 (KJV)
“And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
*Exhortation*
Favour is not merely about receiving blessings; it is also about becoming prepared, trustworthy, and available for the opportunities God places before you. As we look at the concluding part of this discourse, be blessed.
You can position yourself through humility and the fear of God. Proverbs 3:34 “Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.”
Humility is an important spiritual posture for receiving and sustaining grace.
A proud person may reject correction, despise helpers, and become difficult to work with. Such attitudes can damage relationships and close doors that might otherwise have remained open.
Humility, however, does not mean having a poor opinion of yourself. It means recognising your dependence on God, respecting others, and remaining teachable.
Esther demonstrated wisdom and humility as she navigated the process that brought her before the king. She received counsel and acted with discernment (Esther 2:15–17).
Learn to appreciate people, acknowledge the contributions of others, and accept correction when necessary.
Never become so impressed with your own achievements that you forget the God who gave you the ability to achieve them.
Practical application:
Remain teachable.
Appreciate people who help you.
Avoid boasting and unnecessary competition.
Give God the glory for your achievements.
Position yourself through love, kindness, and good relationships.Proverbs 3:3–4 The way you treat people can significantly influence the relationships and opportunities that develop around you.
Ruth demonstrated loyalty and kindness toward Naomi. She did not abandon her mother-in-law when circumstances became difficult. Her decision brought her into a new environment where she encountered Boaz (Ruth 1:16–17; 2:8–12).
Ruth's story illustrates how faithfulness, kindness, and responsible action can contribute to a person's journey into a new season.
Honour people without calculating what you will gain from them. Keep your promises and learn to serve without always demanding recognition.
At the same time, remember that kindness does not require you to tolerate abuse or abandon healthy boundaries.
Practical application:
Speak words that encourage rather than destroy.
Honour people regardless of their social status.
Keep your commitments.
Be generous according to your ability.
Build relationships founded on trust and mutual respect.
Position yourself through prayer and intimacy with God. Hebrews 4:16
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Prayer is one of the ways believers draw near to God, receive wisdom, seek mercy, and ask for His help.
There are situations in life where human ability is insufficient. You may have the qualifications but lack access to an opportunity. You may have a vision but need wisdom to execute it. You may be working diligently but need assistance beyond your present resources.
In such moments, approach the throne of grace with confidence.
Ask God to direct your steps, strengthen your character, provide wisdom, and bring you into opportunities consistent with His purposes.
Esther's experience also reminds us of the importance of prayerful dependence upon God during critical seasons (Esther 4:15–16).
Prayer does not replace responsibility. Rather, it strengthens your dependence on God as you take wise and faithful action.
Practical application:
Establish a consistent prayer life.
Study the Scriptures and meditate on God's promises.
Pray for wisdom concerning your relationships and decisions.
Ask God to help you recognise and use opportunities wisely.
Position yourself through faith, obedience, and readiness. Isaiah 1:19
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”
Faith is more than believing that something good can happen. It also involves trusting God enough to obey His Word and act responsibly.
Mary's response to the angel demonstrated a willingness to submit to God's purpose despite the uncertainty surrounding the assignment (Luke 1:38).
Similarly, Abraham responded to God's call by stepping into an unfamiliar future (Hebrews 11:8).
Sometimes, the opportunity you have been praying for requires you to take a step of obedience.
It may involve making a necessary change, pursuing training, applying for a position, starting a legitimate business, seeking reconciliation, or accepting a responsibility that stretches your capacity.
Do not allow fear to make you permanently unavailable for opportunities that require courage and preparation.
However, do not confuse every impulse with God's direction. Test your decisions against Scripture, seek wise counsel, and consider their consequences.
Practical application:
Act on biblical instructions you already understand.
Be willing to learn and make necessary adjustments.
Take responsible steps toward your goals.
Refuse to let fear become a permanent barrier to progress.
