In my many years of experience as a media professional, I have realized that creating content is not just putting clips together.
The style of creation really matters, as well as the style of editing.
You can have a nice written or crafted content, but if the editing/final packaging is poor it can be a turn off.
I was invited recently by a team of professionals on the invitation of the Registrar of a popular Nigerian University to create a jingle for them. I told them my price when I got there, and the Registrar asked why my price was different and my response was different professionals charge differently for different projects.
I discovered that the job had been given to someone else but the delivery didn't meet their taste (standard), so they need someone to deliver a product with the quality they were looking for.
They asked me again ''Are you sure you can deliver ?" This time around my response was "Let me finish the job and you will see for yourself".
I carried out a research and it showed that 70% of those in the media didn't study media related courses in higher institution, and those who actually studied mass communications or media related courses are out of jobs or out of the media space, because they lack the right skill sets, tips and secrets to getting in.
Every profession has it's ethics and secrets, so does the media.
